Lil Wayne Skips Out On Concert After Refusing To Go Through Security Check

Fans of rapper Lil Wayne who paid good money to see him live in concert on South Carolina this past weekend came away bitterly disappointed, after Weezy skipped out on the show because of a security issue. His life wasn't in danger, nor was there any suspicious activity at the venue - the issue was that he refused to pass through a security check.

According to Billboard, in a statement published on Sunday (October 1st), managers of the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, SC say Lil Wayne refused to enter the building after personnel who were on site attempted to have him go through “the venue’s standard safety procedures.” No exceptions were to be made by the venue , as they were concerned that any negligence on their part would lead to a situation that could “ jeopardize safety” for those in attendance. It's not inherently clear exactly what those security measures were, but in light of the terrorist attack that plagued an Ariana Grande performance in Manchester, U.K. earlier this year, you can bet that the staff at every concert venue across the globe are putting both patrons and performers under increased security.

Fans who were caught in the crossfire of these events the night of the show took to Twitter to voice their displeasure with what ended up happening.

Lil Wayne’s representatives have not responded to multiple requests for comment from various media outlets as of this writing. Sources say that the rest of the show went on with the likes of 2 Chainz, Tory Lanez and Cardi B taking the stage and turning in some fine performances, which may have helped placate the disgruntled mass of Weezy fans at least for a little bit. As per the details in the initial news report, ticketholders are being offered refunds beginning on Monday.

Chinese court creates “Divorce Exam” that couples must fail to end their marriage

Getting a divorce is never easy for anyone involved, but it is particularly difficult at the Yibin People’s Court, in China’s Sichuan Province, where one magistrate recently implemented a divorce exam that both the husband and the wife must fail in order for their divorce application to be approved.

The divorce exam is the brainchild of Wang Shiyu, a judge at the People’s Court of Yibin County, who, after noticing that divorces accounted for an alarmingly large percentage of the court’s cases, decided to do something about it.

His intention was to make couples think twice before ending their marriage, and also give them an opportunity to reminisce the good times they had together. So he came up with a series of questions for both husband and wife, which they must answer separately. If they score under 60, Wang approves their divorce application, if not, well, they have to keep working on their marriage, whether they like it or not.

“Our intention is to know the real marriage status of the couple involved. They might also examine themselves and give consideration to the other half. After recalling bits and pieces of their marriage, they will be more rational towards it,” judge Wang said.

“As a county with a population of more than a million, the court in Yibin receives hundreds of cases each year, with half of them being domestic ones. Divorce cases account for a large percentage. As I also have a family and a child, when I’m dealing with these cases, I don’t want to see couples getting divorced in haste,” the magistrate added.

The written exam consists of three parts – fill in the blanks’, ‘short question’ and ‘statements’ – with questions covering basic information like family members’ birthdays, favorite foods, date of the couple’s anniversary, as well as more in-depth ones like ” What responsibility did you take up in this family?”, “What did you do good and what did you do bad?”, “What is marriage and family to you?”.

After both the husband and wife turn in their papers, the judge reads their answers and scores them. Here’s the catch, though – no one knows the criteria by which the papers are scored, and he refuses to reveal them.

One of the first couple to go through Wang Shiyu’s divorce exam, on September 14, scored 80 and 86 respectively. Those were considered high scores, so the judge denied their divorce application, advising them to keep working on their marriage. Wang said that the husband had a gambling problem and was disrespectful to his wife, but because they had scored so well on the test, he decided that their marriage was not beyond saving.

News regarding the divorce exam recently went viral on Chinese social media, and got mixed responses from the public. While some applauded Wang’s intention to prevent couples from divorcing on the spur of the moment, while others argued that divorce was a personal matter, and that magistrates were better of focusing on other things, like alimony, custody of any children.

I think this is a good idea.

Funny: Italian woman 'marries herself'

An Italian woman has married herself in a ceremony complete with white dress, three-layer wedding cake, bridesmaids and 70 guests.

"I firmly believe that each of us must first of all love ourselves," said Laura Mesi, a 40-year-old fitness trainer. "You can have a fairytale even without the prince."

The ceremony carries no legal weight.

But Ms Mesi is part of a growing trend for self-marriage - dubbed "sologamy" - in countries around the world.
Proponents of such ceremonies say it is about self-love and acceptance, and claiming the social affirmation normally reserved for couples who wed.

Laura says the idea of a solo wedding came to her two years ago, after a 12-year relationship ended.

Laura Mesi and her bridesmaids
"I told friends and family that if I had not found my soul-mate by my 40th birthday I would marry myself," she told La Repubblica newspaper.
"If one day I find a man with whom I can plan a future I'll be happy, but my happiness does not depend on him."
Ms Mesi says she is the first Italian woman to hold a solo ceremony. In May, a man, Nello Ruggiero, said "yes" to himself in a ceremony in Naples.
In Japan, a travel agency began offering bridal ceremonies for single women in 2014.
Reports of people marrying themselves go as far back as 1993. It has spawned a number of books and been a theme of episodes of Sex and the City and Glee.
In the US, a website called I Married Me offers self-wedding kits. In Canada, an agency called Marry Yourself Vancouver which has been running for more than a year attributes the rise in solo weddings to the growing numbers of single people.

"Single is the new normal. Celebrate your solo status!" it urges.

But not everyone welcomes the trend, with some calling it narcissistic, and others criticising it as a pointless submission to a patriarchal institution.

Among the congratulatory comments left on Ms Mesi's wedding photos are others: "So sad", "you're out of your mind" and "there's something wrong with your brain".

Last month, British self-wedder Sophie Tanner told BBC Three some people called her "a sad feminist".

Ms Mesi has brushed off the catty comments, saying "nothing and no-one can turn off my smile".

But in media interviews she acknowledges that solo weddings might not be for everyone. To marry yourself, she says, you need a certain amount of money, the support of those around you, and - above all - "a pinch of madness".

‘I Don’t Have to F*ck Managers to Get on Top’- Dencia Drags Yemi Alade for Filth!

Dencia is out for Yemi Alade in a very hot way.

Posting on her Instagram yesterday, Dencia shared a clip from Yemi’s 2016 interview in which the Johnny singer called out names of some artists she thought should quit music, and one of those she dissed was Dencia.

For over a year, Dencia ignored that diss and worked on her new album. Now, her album is out and she finally has time for Yemi Alade.

“@yemialade Fuck you,” Dencia began in her lengthy response. “My Album debuted on #3. I don’t have to fuck managers and whatever to get to the top.”

And that was not all.

Dencia dismissed Yemi Alade’s achievement, insisted they are not on same level, and explained that she is taking all her time to drag the Johnny singer, to promote her new album same way Yemi Alade used her for clicks and promotion last year.

Dencia is sincere like that.

As usual Yemi Alade is ignoring the media firestorm(she rarely ever engages folks on social media), but we are guessing she will be giving Dencia the wide berth in the future because the Nigerian-Cameroonian singer and entrepreneur don’ play pretty. LOL

City Star Aguero Dumped by Girlfriend 2 Days After Crash

It’s been a stormy week for Manchester City star, Sergio Aguero, as he’s just been ditched by his pop star lover barely days after he suffered a car crash.

The 29-year-old broke a rib in a crash in the Netherlands after going to see a show, and it’s now emerged that his girlfriend, 31-year-old Karina Tejeda, has left him.

Karina, known as The Little Princess in their Argentinian homeland, had been dating Aguero for four years, but was reportedly angry at him for attending a party with several models on a brief return to Argentina.

The hitman is said to have gone along with team-mates from the national side ahead of an international match, Sun writes.

Aguero

But his best efforts to woo her back – including Instagram likes of sexy photos she has posted – seem to have hit a bump as she appeared blasé when told of the crash.

“Really? I didn’t know. Oh well,” she said.

She spoke about the couple’s break up while appearing on a cookery TV show in Argentina last week, saying she bore no ill feelings.

“From the start I didn’t say many things. And I feel really good for having done it that way.

“Today I don’t want to tell anything. I simply realise that people expect that I should sit down to maybe speak badly or drop a hint in one of my songs.”

On Aguero, she added: “With regards to him, I have a lot of respect for him and I’m not going to touch on that topic.

“People think I’m angry but I’m not. I’m very well.”

Aguero, who has been on devastating form for City this term, hooked up with Karin after the break-up of his marriage to Giannina Maradona, the daughter of football legend Diego, with whom he has a son.

Nnamdi Kanu Escaped to London Through Malaysia – Orji Kalu

A former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu has revealed that the the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu has absconded to London through Malaysia.

In an interview with the Punch newspaper, Kalu said that contrary to the claim by some people that Kanu was arrested and taken away by the military after some of the supporters of his separatist group clashed with soldiers in Umuahia, the former governor said Kanu has absconded from the country and is now in London.

Kanu has not been seen in public or heard from since after the Umuahia incident sparking the speculations that he might have been abducted by the military.

Last week the military denied the allegation saying Kanu was not in its custody.

If the statement by Uzor Kalu is true, it means that Kanu who is standing trial for treason has effectively become a fugitive.

“Kanu was not taken away by the military. Kanu went to Malaysia from where he travelled to the United Kingdom. Nnamdi Kanu is in London right now as we speak. He was not arrested by anybody. He left the country on his own,” the former governor said.

“One of his relations has spoken to me and explained everything because I wanted to see him and talk to him wherever he was and see how I could meet some Federal Government officials on his issue. I also wanted to see ways of talking to the President about him, and find common ground but his family told me that he has left the country, unless they are lying to me.

“I believe, whether he had left the country or not, he is not with the military because I asked the Commander of the 14 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. A.K Ibrahim, who is a very fine and good soldier, well educated and dedicated, and he told me that they don’t know his whereabouts and I am sure, the Department of State Services have the same information. I also visited the commissioner of police and he said he didn’t know his whereabouts and that they are also looking for him,” he added.

Last week, the British government said it has written to the Nigerian government asking for the whereabouts of Kanu who is also a British citizen.

Wenger Hails ‘United’ Arsenal as Storm Clears at the Emirates

After the transfer turbulence that rocked Arsenal in August, manager Arsene Wenger believes the side is more united as they look to extend their unbeaten streak to four matches.

The Gunners hit a devastating low days before the close of the summer transfer window, going down 4-0 at Premier League rivals Liverpool amid uncertainty over the future of star player, Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez, 28, was tipped to join Manchester City but Wenger didn’t budge, opting rather to keep the Chilean star at the Emirates Stadium despite his contract running out in the summer.

Arsenal

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs moved on however, but there’s a sense of balance at the club that Wenger believes is reflected in their play, Goal writes.

“It feels like a different team. You see the way we play football,” Wenger said ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion.

“You need to have a united group to do that. The weight of the transfer market was much heavier than internationals.

“I put [our improvement] down to the fact that we realised what we produced was not good enough. But that was a special day for us: it was just before the transfer window closed and just before an international break.

“Overall we stayed united and responded on the pitch.”

Arsenal are seventh on the log, nine points adrift of early pacesetters City and Manchester United.

OJ Simpson Released on Parole After 9 Years in Jail

Former American football star and OJ Simpson has been released from prison after nine years in a Nevada jail.

Simpson had been serving time for armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and 10 other charges over an attack at a Las Vegas hotel in 2001.

He left prison shortly after midnight local time and was picked up by a friend, Nevada Department of Corrections Spokeswoman Brooke Keast said.

Simpson’s release comes just three months after he was approved for early parole after a board hearing.

In a Facebook post, Nevada Department of Corrections released an image and video of Simpson signing documents and leaving Lovelock Correctional Centre early on Sunday. The 70-year-old will be facing restrictions – including up to five years parole supervision.

OJ

Nicknamed the Juice, Simpson’s spectacular fall began after he was acquitted of the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goodman, in 1995.

The former actor and media personality then bagged a maximum 33-year prison sentence in 2008 after storming a Las Vegas hotel room with five others in an effort to seize items from two sports memorabilia dealers.

Though he claimed the belongings – said to be images of his family and friends – were later handed over to him by officials after they were legally deemed to belong to him.

Despite the 1995 not-guilty verdict, a civil court jury held Simpson liable for the deaths of Brown Simpson and Goldman, awarding $33.5m (£25m) to their families.

And a lawyer representing Ron Goldman’s family said this amount had nearly doubled with interest under Californian state law, and that the family would continue to seek payment from Simpson after his release.

Simpson has expressed his desire to move to Florida after leaving jail where he intends to lead a quiet life.

Man Screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’ Kills 2 Before Being Shot Dead by French Soldiers

A man has been shot and killed by French soldiers after he stabbed two women to death at Marseille’s main train station.

The French interior ministry have branded the incident a ‘likely terrorist act’ as police cordon off the area and ask people to stay away.

“After the attack carried out next to Marseille Saint-Charles, I am immediately going to the site of the attack,” French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said on Twitter.

According to police sources who spoke to Reuters, the knife-wielding suspect had shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest) as he lounged at his hapless victims.

An eyewitness at the scene said she saw a man take out a knife from his sleeve and then stab a young girl and then a second woman, shouting what could have been “Allahu Akbar”.

It was at that point that soldiers from France’s Sentinelle force who were patrolling in the area arrived on the public square at the Gare Saint-Charles station and prevailed on the situation.

France has been in a state of emergency after a spate of attacks by Islamist militants over the last two years, including attacks in Paris in November 2015 which killed 130 people and the Bastille Day attack when a gunman drove a heavy truck into a crowd celebrating, killing 86 people and injuring scores more.

Ghana Midfielder Admits Having Sex with Underage Swede, Denies Rape Charge

Ghana midfielder Kingsley Sarfo has admitted to having sex with an underage girl in Sweden but denies it was rape.

Sarfo, 22, landed in hot water following charges of rape with a far younger girl who was not eligible for sex according to Swedish law.

In a closed court session Sunday at the legal centre in Malmo, ‘Malmo Tingsratt’, the Ghanaian confirmed he had penetrated the lady but only did so with her consent, Ghanasoccer writes.

In the wake of the charges, Sarfo was suspended by Malmo until the case is heard and his innocence established.

It could be a sudden fall for one of the rising stars of Ghanaian football, particularly if he is handed a long term jail sentence which is normally dished out to those found guilty of rape.

The player who recently became Malmo’s most expensive signing already has a pending case with the Swedish authorities after he was picked up by the Police for driving without a License.

His ordeal has also come as he was named in the Black Stars squad to play against Uganda in a crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier this month.

Should he be found guilty, he’ll become the second Ghanaian player to go to jail in Sweden in recent times after former Heart of Lions midfielder, Kwame Bonsu who was sentenced to two years for sexual abuse against his ex-wife during his time at Gefle IF.

Independence Day: Buhari Vows to Keep Nigeria United

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to ensure that the country remains united.

Excerpts from a speech which the president is expected to deliver on Sunday to commemorate Nigeria’s 57th independence anniversary reflect the president’s commitment to suppress agitations for the secession of some parts of the country.

Buhari in his speech condemned the calls for the division of the country and for civil war, saying persons behind such calls were taking undue advantage of the political freedom enjoyed under his administration.

“In the past two years, Nigeria has recorded appreciable gains in political freedom. A political party at the centre losing governorship elections, National Assembly seats and even state assemblies to opposition parties is new to Nigeria.

“Added to these is a complete freedom to associate, to hold and disseminate opinions. Such developments clearly attest to the country’s growing political development.

“Recent calls for re-structuring, quite proper in a legitimate debate, has let in highly irresponsible groups to call for dismemberment of the country. We cannot and we will not allow such advocacy.”

The president who narrated his participation in Nigeria’s civil war between 1967 and 1970 as a young army officer, described the consequences of war as ‘fearful destruction and untold suffering.’

“Those who are agitating for a rerun were not born by 1967 and have no idea of the horrendous consequences of the civil conflict which we went through,” he said.

The president’s remarks are understood to be veiled references to the agitations of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) which was recently declared a terrorist group by a Federal High Court at the request of the federal government.

Notwithstanding his strong rebuke for the secessionists, the president indicated his administration would continue to discuss with agitators in the Niger Delta region who have over time threatened to attack the nation’s oil facilities and on some occasion issued a quit notice to northerners and Yoruba residents in the region.

“Government is keeping up the momentum of dialogue with stakeholders in the Niger Delta to keep the peace. We intend to address genuine grievances of the communities.

“Government is grateful to the responsible leadership of those communities and will pursue lasting peace in the Niger Delta,” Buhari said.

The president’s preference for dialogue in the Niger Delta will easily be understood by many. The region powers the economy through crude oil production which is the major source of revenue. Restiveness in the region is bound to lead to significant decline in oil production and national revenue as was experienced in the first year of the present administration.

Meanwhile, Punch reports that the president has promised to accelerate the progress of the country and intensify efforts to fix Nigeria’s problems as the nation moves towards the third year of his four-year term.
