According to the media house, Abrokwah was arrested and arraigned in court after his wife’s tape with another man surfaced on social media. He recorded the said video, and from the clip, is heard quizzing a crying Afia, barraging her with questions as she struggled to shield herself from the preying eyes of the camera, and he threatened to bathe her with a liquid substance presumed to be acid.
However, he denied leaking the tape.
In his statement to the press, he admitted to recording the video, and said he sent a copy to the OAP’s father, but challenged his accusers to provide proof that he leaked the said tape.
And so, today in court, he pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him. Also, Modern Ghana adds that the Chief Inspector Maxwell Oppong told the court that the liquid Abrokwah threatened Afia with was not acid but mere water.
The accused has been granted bail of approximately N1.6m. It is unclear when next he is scheduled to appear in court.
Lai Mohammed Condemns Deadly Attack on Benin Zoo
In the attack, three Policemen were killed, and the Head of the Zoo, Dr Andy Ehanire, was abducted by the gunmen.
In a statement issued today, Alh. Lai Mohammed described the attack on one of the country’s foremost tourist destinations as a big blow to ongoing efforts to lift the tourism sector in the country.
”The success or failure of a tourism destination depends largely on a safe and secure environment. Incidences such as the attack on the Ogba Zoo and Nature Park therefore negate the concept of tourism as well as government’s determination to develop our tourism industry as a tool for socio-economic development.
”The killing of the three policemen attached to the zoo to provide security for fun seekers, the abduction of the zoo boss and the trauma suffered by the visitors who witnessed the attack are saddening, condemnable and most unfortunate,” he said.
In addition, the Minister said government will step up security, particularly in all the tourist sites across the country in order to prevent a reoccurrence, while urging the abductors of Dr Ehanire to quickly release him unharmed.
He sent his condolences to the families of the policemen who were killed during the deadly attack in Benin zoo, and prayed that God will grant repose to their souls.

US President Donald Trump Adds Three New Countries to Travel Ban

The new ban will officially take place on October 18. Until then, individuals with certain permitted exceptions (i.e. the foreign grandparent of a US citizen) can still apply for visas of entry.
"We cannot afford to continue the failed policies of the past, which present an unacceptable danger to our country," Trump said in a statement issued by the White House. "My highest obligation is to ensure the safety and security of the American people, and in issuing this new travel order, I am fulfilling that sacred obligation."
Previously, the ban enacted in January policed entry from the nations of Iran, Syria, Lybia, Somalia, Yemen, and Sudan. Now, this list adds three new countries, two of which are not a majority Muslim country: Venezuela and North Korea.
According to Trump administration employees, this move was made in an effort to ensure critics that the travel ban is not discriminatory of Muslims. Restrictions will differ between nations with all foreign nationals from North Korea being banned while a student from Iran may by allowed in upon the fulfillment of “enhanced screening and vetting requirements.”
“The State Department will coordinate with other federal agencies to implement these measures in an orderly manner," said Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a statement. "We will continue to work closely with our allies and partners who share our commitment to national and global security."
The Supreme Court has already scheduled hearing on the legality of the ban for October 10th.

“Our client greatly values his good name and reputation. The article is both wrongful and highly defamatory of him in that it was intended, and understood by readers, to mean that he is both unfaithful and dishonest towards ‘Queen B.’

They haven’t given us any evidence to corroborate what they are saying, other than to say they’ve got three sources and they haven’t said who they are. From our end, we are going to sue for damages suffered by our client, AKA. Should they further publish defamatory content on him, we will take the interdict route.”
Diezani’s Lawyers Blocked Her Interrogation in March 2017 – EFCC
The quest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to see justice done in the allegations of corruption against former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezane Alison-Madueke, may have hit a new snag as the anti-graft agency says its investigative team has not been allowed to meet with her in the United Kingdom, where she has been staying since 2015 when the investigation into her tenure began.
According to the EFCC, John Binns of BCL Solicitors, the law firm representing Mrs Alison-Madueke, refused to allow the EFCC investigative team, led by Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, to meet with the former minister in the UK when they went to interrogate her in March.
The EFCC made the claims in a counter-affidavit it filed in response to a motion filed by Diezani with the aim of getting an amendment and adding her as a party to the charges filed against Mr Olajide Omokore and 5 others.
A 9 count charge of criminal diversion of about $1.6bn, alleged to be part of proceeds of sales of petroleum products belonging to the Federal Government, was filed against Omokore and the other five defendants by the EFCC.
Mr Madueke was mentioned in one of these 9 counts, where she and other officials were alleged to have had a hand in Omokore’s money laundering offences.
Parts of EFCC’s counter-affidavit read:
“That sometime in 2015, the commission received an intelligence report bordering on abuse of office, criminal breach of trust, stealing, conversion and receiving stolen properties.
“That the commission further assessed the intelligence report and found that there was merit in same. Investigation was conducted in respect of this case before a charge was preferred against the defendants (Omokore and others).
“That at the tail end of the tenure of the applicant as Minister of Petroleum Resources, the commission received a lot of complaints and intelligence reports against the applicant, alleging that she was involved in various corrupt practices, money laundering, stealing of public funds and illegal acquisition of properties within and outside Nigeria.
“That immediately the applicant (Alison-Madueke) got to know that investigations had commenced in respect of her various nefarious illegal financial activities while she was the Minister of Petroleum Resources, she absconded from Nigeria in order to escape the investigation and prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
“That upon realising that the applicant is in the United Kingdom, we made efforts to schedule a meeting with the applicant in order to interview her in respect of her involvement in the activities leading to this charge and many other alleged financial crimes linked to her but up till now, she had always avoided having any meeting with members of our team.
“That the applicant’s lawyer in the United Kingdom, one John Binns of BCL Solicitors, informed the members of the team of investigators headed by Abdulrasheed Bawa, when they visited the United Kingdom in March, 2017, that the team would not be permitted to meet the applicant for any interview in view of the fact that she is not within the territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“That while in the United Kingdom, the applicant had been invited by the Metropolitan Police, who are investigating her for several other financial crimes. She has been released on bail in the United Kingdom but could not leave the United Kingdom as their investigations have reached advanced stages.”

But he condemned the military operations in the south-east saying the government must be open to dialogue as a means of agitations.
“Let the use of brute force be the last option in matters of agitation. Battles can be won without the use of force. Having said that, I am not promoting IPOB, but Buhari should lead Nigeria with equity and justice,” Fayose said in a series of tweets Sunday.“In every family there are both the good and bad people. Agitation is normal in every society but the way to go about it is to tread cautiously. I’m not for division of Nigeria. But the Federal Government should engage in more of dialogue with agitating groups; use carrot and stick approach instead of guns.”
He touched on the need for restructuring, saying Nigeria must be restructured in order to promote fairness and equity, before calling on the All Progressives Congress to include members of the opposition in the Governor Nasir el-Rufai restructuring committee.
“What this government needs to do is to restructure and this matter should not be handled by the APC. It should not be a party affair. Using brute force is not democratic. Running a democracy should not be by propaganda. Democracy is not autocracy,” he concluded.

6 year old Boko Haram victim walks again after surgery in Dubai
While being ferried to Dubai on September 10, all he could mutter repeatedly in Hausa was: “Ina so insake tafiya da kafana…Don Allah ataimakamu…Don Allah. Ina so in je makaranta”. (“I want to begin to walk with my legs again. For God’s sake, assist me. I want to go to school”).
Now Ali can walk as he “miraculously” stood up from his hospital bed to the amazement of his shocked doctors. They had projected that it would take him four weeks to walk.
The surgery at Zulekha Hospital Sharjah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates was coordinated by Dr. Nishit Bhargava, The Nation reports
It was bankrolled by the Dickens Sanomi Foundation with $48,000 (N17.5million).The Foundation was established by Mr. Igho Sanomi who owns the Taleveras Group.

“This determined six-year old boy got off his bed and decided to walk despite doctors’ expectations that he would need physiotherapy to learn to walk again at least three weeks after surgery. Today, Ali walked after just seven days.
“This made my day and I am so proud of the Dickens Sanomi Foundation for making this surgery possible financially.”
I sell stolen phones as London used-Suspect confesses
The dealer specializes in buying stolen mobile phones from armed robbers and ‘one chance’ gangs then sell them as London used phones to unsuspecting members of the public.
The suspect, Jamiu Adebayo, 30, was tracked and arrested with an iphone 7 belonging to one Kolade Johnson, a banker working in Lagos Island.
Johnson, had on August 23 boarded a one chance commercial bus around 5:45 a:m of his way to work. The robbers, operating with the commercial bus dispossessed him of a laptop, 2 phones, one of which was traced to Adebayo while trying to sell it to a customer in Lagos Island.
Also found in the bag of the suspect were 6 additional iphones, 4 assorted phones and three MTN sim packs, which he stated he collected from some of the robbers.
Adebayo, an erstwhile NURTW member in Ajah, stated that he went into sale of cloth after raising enough money. He added that it was here he ventured into fairly used phone sales.
The suspect noted that he regularly bought stolen phones from three people who he is aware are members of armed robbery and one chance gangs.
“Uche, Alubi and Pinheiro are three major guys I collect these phones from. I buy iphone 7 with icloud N45,000 and sell N55,000. Those without icloud, I buy N150,000 and sell N180,000.
I buy iphone 6 N65,000. I buy Samsung phones N22,000 and sell N27,000. I sell other phones too. I work on the phones and disguise them as London used phones,” he explained.

Nursing mother sets husband’s 10-year -old brother ablaze in Lagos
PUNCH Metro learnt that the offence of the Ishielu, Ebonyi State indigene, was that he misplaced his trousers and could not produce them when Gift demanded them from him.
Residents of the community, who heard the cry of the victim, put out the fire, during which he reportedly passed out.
Chimobi was subsequently rushed to the Ikorodu General Hospital, Ikorodu.Policemen from the Igbogbo division were said to have arrested the suspect.
A source told PUNCH Metro that the child was brought to Lagos in 2016 by the brother to start living with his family.
He said since then, Gift had been abusing Chimobi, adding that matter came to a head when she set him ablaze that Wednesday.
He said, “He is the younger brother of the man, who is a security guard in a firm. He was not enrolled in any school after he was brought from the village. The brother wanted him to be assisting the wife, who had a baby about a year ago, with house chores and other things.
“The woman has been abusing him for some time now. There are marks of past floggings on his body. He also has sores.
“People in the community could no longer keep quiet when the last incident happened on Wednesday, September 6. She poured kerosene on the boy and lit him with a matchstick.”
Chimobi, who spoke with a Punch correspondent on Saturday, said he had some education before he was brought to Lagos from Ebonyi.
He explained that his brother and his wife had refused to enrol him in a school since he started living with them.
“I misplaced my trousers and ‘mummy’ (sister-in-law) poured kerosene on me and used a matchstick to light fire. People came to help me. I have not been going to school since they brought me from the village,” he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the incident.
He noted that Gift had been granted bail because of her child, saying she was mandated to be reporting at the police station daily.
The Director of the OPD, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, said the victim had been taken into protective custody.
