Beverly Naya Narrates How She Was Bullied As A Child And It’s Touching

Nigerian actress, Beverly Naya has recounted her experiences as a teenage girl, according to her, she was bullied  for having really bad eczema, crooked teeth, a ‘lightbulb head’ and ‘football legs’, an experience that made her develop low self esteem.

She went ahead to blame herself for not loving her-teen self more! She added that it was just yesterday that she noticed has been living ‘a fake life’ to impress others at the detriment of her own happiness.
She wrote;
I’ve come a long way from the little girl who was bullied for having really bad eczema, crooked teeth, a ‘lightbulb head’ and ‘football legs’. I never thought I was beautiful as a child and once I hit my early teens, I found myself overcompensating for my lack of self esteem. I wanted to please in every way to the detriment of my own happiness…
this carried on into my early twenties when after two years of living in Nigeria, I nearly completely lost myself trying to fit in and be understood/liked. I guess growing up as an only child has partly attributed to my reserved nature. I’m an introvert when you first meet me but an extrovert when comfortable, most times socially awkward on first encounters (first few encounters in some cases lol) but my heart is always in the right place…I’m not perfect.

I think I only truly found myself last year, I stopped trying to make people like me, stopped trying to force people to see the real me…the funny me, the happy and bubbly me, the caring me. I realised that only those who are genuinely supposed to be in my life would always be the ones who get to see this.

I only realised last year that you can’t force people to like you, neither can you dumb down/change who you are to be accepted. I’m not perfect but God thinks I am and He knows it’s been an emotional battle to get my mind to where it is today, but I am so incredibly grateful and proud of myself for the woman I am becoming…I say becoming because I don’t believe any of us are there yet, I don’t think we ever stop growing into our purpose, but the journey (if you allow it to happen without manipulating it) truly is beautiful.

If I could speak to my younger self, I would tell her:

Dear Beverly,
I love you so much. You are beautiful, you are worthy, you are a gift from God and you are enough.
The very words my mum has told me since I was a young child, the very words that went in one ear and out the other…the very words that with time, experience and growth; I wholeheartedly understand and accept today.
Moral of the story: I hope you overcome all your challenges, I hope you look beyond the opinions of others and remember the fact that God and your soul are always rooting for you…you owe it to yourself to not only be the best version of you, but to give yourself the very best treatment because no one can love you better than you can. Be your own kind of beautiful, love always.

Single mum scoops $758million lottery, making her richer than Beyonce and Taylor Swift combined

A mum-of-two has become more wealthy than Beyonce and Taylor Swift combined after she scooped $758.7 million ,the largest single win in American lottery history .

After realising she had won, Mavis Wanczyk, who beat odds of one-in-292.2 million, immediately called her work to say she would not be returning.

The 53-year-old, hospital cleric from Chicopee, Massachusetts, found out about her win while on what turned out to be her last night shift at a hospital where she had been for more than 30 years.

According to CBS news, Mavis she was with her colleague Rob when she checked her numbers.
She explained:

“And he’s reading these numbers and I pull mine out and I go ‘hey, I have that …’ and he goes ‘let me see that ticket,’ he goes, ‘you just won.’”
Mavis, the mother of a 31-year-old daughter and a 26-year-old son, said she wasn’t able to drive because she was so stunned.
“I couldn’t do anything so he (Rob) followed me to make sure I made it home safely,’ she added.
“That’s how I found out, from him.”
When asked what she wants to do with all the money she has won, she said,
“The first thing I want to do is just sit back and relax and I had a pipe dream and my pipe dream has finally come true, I wanted to retire in 12 (years) and it came early.
"I've called work and told them I will not be coming back.
“I just want to be me and figure out what I want to do. I'm scared but I'll be ok.”
The shop owner, Bob Bolduc, collected $50,000 (£39,000) for selling the winning ticket and is to give the money to charity.

Mavis will now have to decide whether to take a lump sum or have her winnings paid out over 30 years.

If she chooses the quick cash she will receive about $480.5 million  as wins in America,  are taxed.

Kenneth Copeland – Tradition-A Killer! [SERMON]

                                  Topic: Tradition—A Killer! [Thursday August 24, 2017]

Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. – Matthew 15:6
Cancer. Heart disease. Multiple sclerosis. When we think of killer diseases, those are the names that come to mind. But the truth is, there’s a far more deadly killer on the loose in the Church today. And it’s destroyed more lives than any of us can imagine. It’s called tradition. Traditions rob believers of their healing. They steal the power from the promises of God. Here are three you should beware of:

1. The tradition that says it’s not always God’s will to heal you. It is God’s will to heal you! It says so in His Word. If you don’t believe that it is, then you can’t pray in faith believing you’ll receive. You’re like the farmer who sits on his porch and says, “I believe in crops, but I’m not going to plant any seed this year. I’ll just believe, and if it’s God’s will, my crop will come up.” That farmer will never see his crop. Faith is the seed of healing—if you don’t plant it, it won’t grow. A prayer that includes the words “if it be thy will” won’t produce a healing harvest. You must know without a doubt that healing is always God’s will for you.

  1. Another tradition we hear is that healing has passed away. That there are no miracles today. But the Word of God proves that’s not true. In Exodus 15:26, God says, “…I am the Lord that healeth thee.” He also tells us that He does not change (Malachi 3:6). He has never changed since the beginning of time. For healing to pass away, God would have to pass away…and He is not about to do that!
  2. The third dangerous tradition is this one: “God gets glory from Christians being sick.” That tradition totally violates the Word of God. The Bible says that people gave glory to God when they saw the lame walk and the blind see. God receives glory from your healing—not your pain!

The world is looking for a way out of sickness and disease, not a way into it. Let’s break down those traditions and deliver a hurting world from the most dangerous killer of all.

Joyce Meyer – Don’t Offend God [Sermon]

Topic: Don’t Offend God [Thursday August 24, 2017]

…Work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ). – Philippians 2:12
We can allow the Holy Spirit to invade our lives. We can be so filled with His presence and power that we allow Him into every aspect of who we are and into everything we do. He can get into our thoughts, emotions, and even our wills and bring healing and wholeness to our entire being, but He wants an invitation.

Tell the Holy Spirit you are ready to work with Him to bring what He has done in you by the grace of God to the forefront of your life. “Work it out,” which is the theme of our scripture for today, means that we must learn to live from the Spirit. We need to learn to live inside out. Be cautious not to offend God by giving in to temptation and sin. Learn to live in such a manner that your conscience is entirely clean at all times.

You might be thinking, Joyce, all of this sounds hard and I am not sure I have what it takes. But, I want to assure you that you do have what it takes, because you have the power of the Holy Spirit in your life. You cannot do it in your own strength, but as you partner with God you can do whatever you need to do in life. Don’t settle for a “barely get by” kind of life when there is a life of abundance waiting for you.

Andrew Wommack – Share In His Sufferings [SERMON]

Topic: Share In His Sufferings [Thursday August 24, 2017]

Matthew 20:22 “But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.”

Text: Matthew 20:17-25
The Greek word for baptize is “baptizo.” This word was used by Plato (fourth century B.C.) to describe a man being “overwhelmed” by philosophical arguments; or it means sponges being “dipped” in fluid; and by Strabo (first century B.C.) to describe people who could not swim as being “submerged” under water. Josephus in the first century A.D. used the word to describe the city of Jerusalem as being “overwhelmed” or “plunged” into destruction by the Romans; and Plutarch (also first century A.D.) used this word to refer to a person being “immersed” in the sea. In the Septuagint (the Greek version of the O.T.), “baptizo” is used to describe Naaman dipping himself in the Jordan River (2 Ki. 5:14). From classical Greek right down to New Testament Greek, the same basic meaning has been retained: “To immerse, submerge, dip or plunge.” Jesus is stating that the disciples will indeed be plunged into the same sufferings that He will experience.

There are many forms of persecution. Having your life threatened because of your faith in Jesus is one way you can be persecuted. History shows that the church has always flourished under persecution with increased numbers and zeal. During intense, life-threatening persecution, people’s priorities get straightened out and the Lord assumes His rightful place. This always works for our good, regardless of what our outward circumstances might be. It helps to recognize that it is not you that they are persecuting, but rather Christ in you. You are actually partaking in His sufferings and will share in His rewards. With this in mind, we can actually shout and leap for joy in times of persecution.

FG directs NBC to Sanction Any Station That Broadcasts Hate Speech

The Federal Government on Thursday directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to sanction any radio or television station that broadcasts hate speech.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, issued the directive in Abuja at the Annual Lecture Series of the NBC and the 25th Anniversary of the Commission.

According to Vanguard, the minister said that the directive was part of efforts to stem the growing tide of hate speech in the country.

“As a matter of fact, the challenges facing the NBC have never become more daunting, considering the increasing propensity of some radio and television stations across the country to turn over their platforms to the purveyors of hate speech. “It is the responsibility of the NBC to put these broadcast stations in check before they set the country on fire. “As the NBC celebrates what is a milestone – a quarter of a century – in its existence, I urge the Commission to redouble its efforts in discharging its mandate.
“The NBC must ensure a strict adherence to the Broadcasting Code, and errant stations must be sanctioned accordingly to serve as a deterrent. “The nation looks up to the NBC to restore sanity to the broadcast industry.
The Commission cannot afford to do any less at this critical time. It cannot afford to fail the nation,” he said.
The minister cited the ignominious role played by a radio station in fuelling the genocide in Rwanda in 1994 which led to the loss of over 800,000 lives in 100 days. He, therefore, charged the NBC not to allow the purveyors of hate speech to lead Nigeria to the path of destruction.
“If you tune into many radio stations, for example, you will be shocked by the things being said, the careless incitement to violence and the level of insensitivity to the multi-religious, multi-ethnic nature of our country. “Unfortunately, even some of the hosts of such radio programmes do little or nothing to stop such incitements. “Oftentimes, they are willing collaborators of hate speech campaigners. This must not be allowed to continue because it is detrimental to the unity and well-being of our country,” he said.

South African model challenges Grace Mugabe's immunity

The  South African model who has said she was whipped with an electric cord by Zimbabwe's first lady Grace Mugabe has filed court papers challenging the government's decision to grant her diplomatic immunity, advocacy group Afriforum said.

South Africa's international relations minister said she had granted diplomatic immunity to the wife of Zimbabwe's 93-year-old President Robert Mugabe.

Afriforum has given legal backing to Gabriella Engels, the 20-year-old woman behind the assault allegation, and is working on the case with Gerrie Nel. He was the prosecutor who secured a murder conviction against Olympic and Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius.

"We want to set aside the granting of diplomatic immunity to Grace Mugabe," said Afriforum CEO Kallie Kriel adding that it could take months before the case is heard in court and that no date for the hearing had been set.

Mrs. Mugabe returned home from South Africa early on Sunday, but her immunity was widely-criticized in South Africa, where August has been designated Women's Month to highlight concerns around gender violence and abuse.

Engels has accused Grace Mugabe of whipping her with an electric extension cable as she waited with two friends in a luxury hotel suite to meet one of Mugabe's adult sons.

Harare has made no official comment on the issue and requests for comment from Zimbabwean government officials have gone unanswered

Nigerian couple fights UK govt over ‘forceful adoption’ of their son

A Nigerian couple have raised alarm over the continued stay of a six-year-old Nigerian boy, Monisola Muiz Bakre, in the United Kingdom (UK).

The boy’s father, Mr Ayokuleyin Bakre, is accusing the UK government of “illegal and forceful adoption” of his son.

Nigerian-born Monisola was taken into the British government’s custody in 2013, following multiple injuries he sustained in a domestic accident at his aunt’s residence in London when he was a year old.

The London Metropolitan Police accused his mother of causing him “non-accidental injury” after a medical examination was carried out at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London.

The UK authorities took custody of the boy in July 2012 after a Bromley County Court  ruled that he was “at the risk of significant harm” for his mother’s failure to notice injuries in his head after the accident.

The inability of his parents to have unrestricted access to him in the past five years is destabilising the Bakre family, with the troubled father telling his wife, Folashade, not to return to Nigeria without their son.

In its September 15, 2015 judgment on Case Number BR15Z00878 filed by the London Borough of Bexley, the London Family Court at Bromley ordered that the applicant “is authorised to place the child for adoption with any prospective adopters who may be chosen by the authority”.

Bakre rejected the judgment, saying the UK government does not have legal and moral rights to take full custody of his son. Monisola, the father said, was born in Nigeria and does not have dual citizenship.

In his petition titled: Illegal attempt to consider Monisola Muiz Bakre for adoption by the Government of United Kingdom, addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, Bakre said the British government had denied him the rights to administer paternal care on his child. He said the UK authorities barred him from seeing his child by denying him visa, noting that the last time he physically saw his son was when he was one-year-old.

“We want the UK government to know that Monisola’s parents are Nigerians of Islam faith. We prefer our child be brought up with morals in line with our culture and religion. If the child remains in the UK custody, we cannot guarantee our obligation would be performed on the child. We seek the assistance of the Federal Government of Nigeria to confront these illegal actions taken by the British government against our wishes. It is ridiculous to attempt to steal a match on the parents, having kept our child for years in their custody. Now, the UK authorities are seeking to put him up for adoption by unknown person. We reject this immoral decision. We want our son back."
Just after his first birthday, Monisola was taken to London by his mother on May 27, 2012 on a visit to his paternal aunt, Mrs Angel Bakre.

Nigeria donates $2m cash, relief materials to victims of Sierra Leone mudslide

Nigeria has donated cash, food, medical supplies and other relief materials worth $2 million to victims of the mudslide in Sierra Leone.

A statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sarah Sanda, said the items donated  include $1 million cash, as well as 315 metric tonnes of assorted food and other relief items and over 4,000 medical supplies all amounting to another $1m.

A high-level Federal Government delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, made the donation yesterday in Freetown.

The delegation was received at the State House by President Ernest Bai Koroma.

Onyeama expressed sadness “on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari and the people of Nigeria for the August 14 tragedy”.
The minister added that “Nigeria would always stand by Sierra Leone”.

The minister explained that owing to the large volume of relief materials, there is the possibility of sending some by sea.
Koroma, while thanking President Muhammadu Buhari whom he referred to as a brother, noted that Buhari was “one of the first Heads of State to call and sympathise with us when the incident occurred”.

He added that Nigeria’s support to Sierra Leone was not new.

Koroma noted support provided by Nigeria during the 11 year civil war, during the Ebola epidemic and after the mudslide and flood disaster.

He expressed delight over Buhari’s return to Nigeria after a successful medical treatment in the United Kingdom.

Police Shoots Man For Picking Stolen Money

A young man living in Akwa Ibom was allegedly shot by a policemen in the State for picking stolen money which dropped along Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo.
According to an eyewitness, Mr. Joe Inyang,
“The people who owned the money were in a Toyota Camry with a government number plate, AK 705 C01. They appeared to be coming from one of the new generation banks, where they withdrew the huge amount.
“As their driver was going through Paul Bassey Street, he noticed the robbers, who were in a Toyota Corolla. They were on his trail.
“As he tried to link Brooks Street, he rammed the vehicle into an oncoming Toyota Camry. It was then that the robbers blocked access to the government car.
“At that point, the robbers seized the vehicle and started shooting continously into the air. They shattered the boot and doors of the car with bullets to get access to the money, which was in Ghana-Must-Go bags.
“It was in the process of moving the money into another vehicle they seized from a woman that some residents scrambled for the fallen cash. The man the police shot rushed out of his office to pick the cash which littered the road.”

The woman whose car was used as a getaway by the robbers; the man who sustained gunshot injuries; and the driver and other occupants of the government vehicle, were seen by our correspondent at the ‘A Division’ of the state police command on Wednesday.

A resident, who did not want his name in print, told PUNCH Metro that the robbery could not have occurred without the involvement of people in government or the bank, adding that the money could not be less than N50m.

The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Mu’azu Zubairu, neither picked his call nor replied text messages sent to him by Punch.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chukwu Ikechukwu, when contacted, said he was not in the state.
