The Gunners hit a devastating low days before the close of the summer transfer window, going down 4-0 at Premier League rivals Liverpool amid uncertainty over the future of star player, Alexis Sanchez.
Sanchez, 28, was tipped to join Manchester City but Wenger didn’t budge, opting rather to keep the Chilean star at the Emirates Stadium despite his contract running out in the summer.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs moved on however, but there’s a sense of balance at the club that Wenger believes is reflected in their play, Goal writes.
“It feels like a different team. You see the way we play football,” Wenger said ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion.
“You need to have a united group to do that. The weight of the transfer market was much heavier than internationals.
“I put [our improvement] down to the fact that we realised what we produced was not good enough. But that was a special day for us: it was just before the transfer window closed and just before an international break.
“Overall we stayed united and responded on the pitch.”
Arsenal are seventh on the log, nine points adrift of early pacesetters City and Manchester United.
