Oprah Winfrey Reveals Why She Never Got Married

Media guru, Oprah Winfrey, is the cover star for the September 2017 issue of Vogue Magazine. The OWN  CEO revealed why she has never wanted to get married to her boyfriend of 31 years, Stedman Graham.

In her words:

Nobody believes it, but it’s true, The only time I brought it up was when I said to Stedman, ‘What would have happened if we had actually gotten married?’ And the answer is: ‘We wouldn’t be together.’ We would not have stayed together because marriage requires a different way of being in this world. His interpretation of what it means to be a husband and what it would mean for me to be a wife would have been pretty traditional, and I would not have been able to fit into that. Live life on your own terms.

On her movie Beloved; a 1998 American horror drama she said:
I shall never forget Saturday morning, October 17,I got a call from someone at the studio, and they said, ‘It’s over. You got beat by Chucky.’ And I said, ‘Who’s Chucky? What do you mean it’s over? It’s just Saturday morning!’ I knew nothing about box-office projections or weekend openings. It was ten o’clock in the morning, and I said to Art, “I would like macaroni and cheese for breakfast.” And soooo began my long plunge into food and depression and suppressing all my feelings.”
I actually started to think, Maybe I really am depressed. Because it’s more than ‘I feel bad about this.’ I felt like I was behind a veil. I felt like what many people had described over the years on my show, and I could never imagine it. What’s depression? Why don’t you just pick yourself up?”

According to her, the very public failure taught her how to detach:

It taught me to never again—never again, ever—put all of your hopes, expectations, eggs in the basket of box office. Do the work as an offering, and then whatever happens, happens.

Assault Case: Grace Mugabe hasn't surrendered -South African Police

A South African police spokesman has said that a suspect – believed to be Zimbabwe’s First Lady Grace Mugabe – who has been accused of assaulting a model, has not handed herself in yet.

The  police were negotiating with Grace Mugabe's lawyers on Tuesday to get the wife of the Zimbabwean president to turn herself in to face charges of assaulting a model, a senior police source said.

South African police minister Fikile Mbalula had said earlier in the day the Zimbabwean first lady had already handed herself in to police and would appear in court shortly, but that information later appeared to have been premature.

Twenty-year-old Gabriella Engels told South African media Grace had attacked her while the model was visiting the Mugabes' sons Robert and Chatunga at a hotel in Johannesburg's upmarket Sandton district on Sunday.

"One cannot be a fugitive for not appearing at a court to which they have not been summoned & when they have not been charged of any crime!" Grace's close ally and higher education minister Jonathan Moyo tweeted, without elaborating.

Confusion arose on Tuesday afternoon when the magistrates' court where Grace had been expected to be formally charged closed for the day without her appearing.

"The negotiations for her to hand herself in are still going on. We are at a point where we cannot effect an arrest yet," the police source said. "We will cross that bridge when we get there."
Asked if Grace was now considered a fugitive, the source said that was not the case at this stage.

"I don't know, I haven't seen her," the source said when asked if she was still in South Africa.
Another source in South Africa's prosecuting authority said Mugabe had breached an agreement to surrender herself ahead of an expected court hearing on Tuesday afternoon.

Young model allegedly beaten by Mugabe's wife to take legal action

The wife of Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe is facing legal action after being accused of attacking a young woman at a party in South Africa.

Grace Mugabe, 52, allegedly beat Gabriella Engels, 20, with an extension cord after finding her in a hotel with her sons Robert Mugabe Jr, 25, and Chatunga Mugabe, 21, at a hotel.

The model, from Johannesburg, claimed Mrs Mugabe’s guards watched on and did nothing to stop the violence.

Miss Engels wrote on Twitter:

‘What is a girl compared to a women beating you and 10+ body guards standing back leaving her to do this s***,
‘She split my head open in 3 places with an extension cord and used the plug to hit me.’
Gabriella Engels on Monday said she was visiting Mugabe’s two sons Robert and Chatunga at the Capital 20 West Hotel whom she met through a mutual friend on Saturday.

Engels said a bodyguard asked her and a friend to leave the brothers and wait in a separate room before Mugabe allegedly started beating her.
"When Grace entered I had no idea who she was. She walked in with an extension cord and just started beating me with it," Engels told News24 over the phone.
Engels said Mugabe accused her of living with her sons.
"She flipped and just kept beating me with the plug. Over and over. I had no idea what was going on. I was surprised… I needed to crawl out of the room before I could run away.
"Her ten bodyguards just stood there watching, no one did anything, no one tried to help me."
She said hotel staff escorted Engels out of the hotel when she tried to open a case of assault at the Sandton police station
'Blood everywhere'
A police officer, however, advised her to seek medical attention first.
"There was blood everywhere. Over my arms, in my hair, everywhere."
She opened a case of assault against the 52-year-old first lady on Monday afternoon. Gauteng police were unable to verify whether a case of assault had been opened.

Engels said she had not been contacted by either Mugabe or her children following the incident.
She said she is unable to "deal" with the trauma she experienced.
"I am a model, with this scar over my face my whole career is ruined," an emotional Engels told News24.
"I don’t know how to deal with this, but I am trying hard. I am trying so hard to be strong.

Corruption worsened under Buhari, says Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday  boasted that his record of fighting corruption was greater than that of President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was in reaction to an allegation by the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu that Jonathan opened the loop holes for corruption .

In a post signed by Reno Omokri on the former president official Facebook page, Jonathan said

“It may surprise Mr. Okechukwu and his boss to know that the last time Nigeria made progress on Transparency International’s annual Corruption Perception Index was in 2014 under former President Jonathan when we moved eight places from number 144 to number 136 under Goodluck Jonathan.
“That year marked the most improvement Nigeria has ever made since Transparency International began publishing the annual Corruption Perception Index in 1995.
“Transparency International took note of the Jonathan administration’s e-wallet system that cut out the corruption in Nigeria’s fertiliser procurement system, the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System which weeded out 50,000 ghost workers from the federal civil service, the cashless policy and the fact that the Jonathan government promptly fired two ministers (Prof. Barth Nnaji and Stella Oduah) mentioned in corruption scandals.”
“Ever since 2014, Nigeria has not improved in Transparency International’s annual Corruption Perception Index ranking and has remained 136 in 2015 and is still 136 on the latest CPI ranking released in 2017.
“In the most recent CPI Transparency International report and I quote ‘some other large African countries have failed to improve their scores on the index. These include South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania and Kenya.’
“If it were true that the Buhari administration was really fighting corruption, why hasn’t Nigeria made progress in the CPI? The answer is because you can deceive some gullible Nigerians but you cannot deceive Transparency International.”

However, the Presidency on Monday said Jonathan handed over an economy ravaged by many years of mismanagement and corruption to President Buhari at the inception of the present administration in May 2015.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said
He said, “Let me start by reasserting an obvious statement, which is that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was handed an economy ravaged by years of mismanagement and corruption.
“It is understandable that Dr. Jonathan kept his comments short, because a cursory look at any sector clearly indicated that he and his government presided over the most monumental and tragic economic mismanagement recorded in our national history.
“The oil sector boomed under his tenure, with oil prices as high as $120 and peace in the Nigeria Delta. Nigeria earned unprecedented dollar revenues. Sadly, that is where the story turns sour.
“There is nothing to show for the revenues earned, no major capital project was completed, neither power generation, road development, rail or agriculture benefitted from the windfall earnings.
“Rather, the administration presided over the diversion of oil revenues on such a massive scale, that even without the protection now accorded to whistle-blowers, the   then Central Bank Governor blew not only a whistle but a trumpet. He was hurriedly shown the door.
“Meanwhile, the acquisition by public officers and their cohorts of private jets, luxury yachts and the accumulation of expensive property portfolios world-wide continued unabated.
“Indeed the President once celebrated having the largest number of private jets, whilst our youths languished without jobs, our fields stood idle and our factories began the lay off of workers.
“Government simply reticulated oil revenue  through personal spending by corrupt leaders,  wasteful expenses and  salaries. This was done rather than investing in what would grow the economy.
“Economies grow due to capital investment in assets like seaports, airports, power plants, railways, roads and housing. Nigeria cannot record a single major infrastructural  project in the last 10 years. In short, the money was mismanaged

Conte lacks charisma - Costa blasts Chelsea manager

Embattled Chelsea’s striker Diego Costa  has referred to his manager Conte as “cold towards players” and also “lacks charisma needed by a top manager”.

The Brazilian star  is currently in his family home after being told by Antonio Conte that he doesn’t want him anywhere near the first team. The 28-year-old while sharing his side of the story to Daily Mail over his summer of controversy explained that his club had been treating him like a ‘criminal’ and he would be willing to spend a year in Brazil to avoid going back to Stamford Bridge.

He said: “They gave me a week extra off but since then it’s fines all the way. They want me training with the reserves. I am not going to do that. I am not a criminal and I am not in the wrong here. So, if they need to fine me, let them fine me. “I take the hit every week but I’m not driven by money. The important thing is to be happy with how I live. I’m here with my parents and people who respect me. “I am open to being a year in Brazil without playing, even if Chelsea fine me for a year and don’t pay me. I’ll come back stronger. If I was in the wrong, I’d go back now and do as they say.” Costa's relationship with Conte rapidly deteriorated late last season and he claims the Italian is "very distant" and "doesn't possess charisma".

However Costa maintained that his thoughts towards former gaffer Jose Mourinho is cordial as he keeps in touch with the Manchester United manager.

He added: "I respect him (Antonio Conte) as a great coach. He has done a good job and I can see that, but as a person, no. He is not a coach who is very close with his players. He is very distant. He doesn't possess charisma. "Jose has called me, direct to my phone, just to check I am OK and to see how I am.

"He wished me good luck. I never had any problems with Jose, we have a strong relationship. Everyone was very sad when things didn't work out in the end for him at Chelsea."

Taylor Swift wins $1 in groping case against ex-radio DJ David Mueller

A  jury sided with Taylor Swift and determined her allegations that ex-radio DJ David Mueller groped her at a meet-and-greet four years ago are valid , requiring Mueller to pay out a symbolic $1 to the pop star.

"I want to thank Judge William J. Martinez and the jury for their careful consideration, my attorneys Doug Baldridge, Danielle Foley, Jay Schaudies and Katie Wright for fighting for me and anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault, and especially anyone who offered their support throughout this four-year ordeal and two-year long trial process," Swift said in a statement.

"I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.

The case hinged on an alleged 2013 incident at a photo opportunity before one of Swift's concerts at the Pepsi Center in Denver, where Swift says Mueller reached underneath her skirt, grabbed her backside and refused to let go as they posed for a picture.

"He stayed latched onto my bare a-- cheek as I lurched away from him," Swift told the jury.

Mueller maintained his innocent throughout. He lost his on-air job at the KYGO radio station in 2013 after Swift's groping allegations surfaced, prompting him to sue the pop star two years later for costing him his job with her "false" claims. Swift then countersued, alleging sexual assault.

During his testimony last Tuesday, Mueller contended he may have made contact with Swift's ribcage or ribs during their brief encounter, but asserted he never touched her inappropriately.
"It's a humiliating experience to be accused of something that despicable," he testified.

He had originally sought $3 million in damages in his lawsuit against the "Blank Space" singer. Judge Martinez tossed Mueller's case against Swift on the fifth day of the trial, determining that Swift "did not act improperly."

Martinez also said Mueller, 55, should only get the equivalent of two years' salary should he win the case, which would come out to about $300,000.

The photo that Swift took with Mueller — as well as his girlfriend Shannon Mercher — at the 2013 meet-and-greet showed Mueller's hand extended behind the singer's backside, but did not show whether he made contact with her body.
