Jail term for US man who illegally shared nuclear tech

An  American man has been sentenced to two years in jail for illegally helping China develop its nuclear power programme.

Szuhsiung Ho, aka Allen Ho, helped Chinese efforts to develop nuclear power for almost 20 years, said the US Department of Justice.

Ho was prosecuted because he did not obtain explicit permission to share "sensitive" nuclear technologies.

He was also fined $20,000 (£15,500) for breaking the US tech transfer rules.

Ho, who was born in Taiwan but became a naturalised US citizen, worked as a senior engineer for China's largest nuclear power company and also lead a Delaware-based company called Energy Technology International.

The DoJ said Ho aided China by recruiting engineers and other experts to advise it on faster ways to design and build components for some types of nuclear reactors.

The intellectual and engineering aid he helped funnel toward China helped it reduce costs and cut development time for novel reactor types, said the Justice department.

It also helped with work China was carrying out on fuel assembly systems and sensors to monitor power plant cores.

Many of the technologies involved in using radioactive material to generate power are on a proscribed list, and anyone seeking to share them must first get permission from the US Department of Energy to do so.

"Theft of our nuclear technology by foreign adversaries is of paramount concern to the FBI," said Renae McDermott, the special agent in charge of the investigation, in a statement.

"We will aggressively investigate those who seek to steal our technology for the benefit of foreign governments," she said.

Frank Edoho Will No Longer Be Hosting WWTBAM - Organisers Reveal

Popular broadcaster Frank Edoho, has been dropped by sponsors of  family game show, Who Wants To Be A Million after a 13-year stint with the show.

Recall it was announced that the game show would be back on air with a new sponsor, Airopay, earlier in the week, well it seems they are now going with a new host.

An organiser of the show told Saturday Beats the split was amicable.

“The only difference about the show is that the star prize money has reduced from N10m to N5m. Also, it is very likely that we are not going to use Frank Edoho as our anchor. We are not dropping him because we had any issue with him. I think he feels it is time to go and find other endeavours.

“For now, our viewers would only be able to play on the MTN platform till we are able to sort out ways whereby they can play from any network provider and that would be resolved very soon. We are under no obligation to play on the MTN platform alone. Airopay is thrilled to partner with Ultima Limited, whose passion and dedication to quality and world class productions are well known, by sponsoring the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Nigeria game show. Airopay is honoured by this partnership. Airopay and Ultima are convinced that the synergy between Airopay and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire game show will be mutually beneficial,” the source said.

Barrister Solomon Dalung, minister of Youth and Sports, has congratulated the Nigeria’s Super Eagles for their massive 4-0 triumph over visiting Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday.

Following FG's promise of rewarding every strike made with N5Million, the national team will receive N20million Naira for the 4 goals scored.
Barrister Dalung thanked the Nigeria Football Federation and the team for the win saying:
“The Nigeria Football Federation has been on its toes to ensure that he Super Eagles qualify for the next World Cup. You worked very hard for this victory and Nigerians are proud of you for always raising the flag when it matters most.
“We know the consequences of not being at the World Cup in Russia in 2018. We determine the pulse of African sports and set the tune and agenda for Africa in global sports so it is very key and critical to us. Moreover, the absence of Nigeria at any international competition always denies the world of the pattern, style and tradition of the Nigerian variety of football so we will be going to Russia with another different pattern and style of football.”
“The federal government will continue to support our players because they have been making so many sacrifices for the country. There is nothing we can do to compensate them for what they have done except to continue to appreciate and celebrate them in this critical journey to Russia.

People Need To Mind Their Business And Stop Asking For The Source Of My Wealth - MC Galaxy

Popular Nigerian Singer, MC Galaxy needs little or no introduction in the entertainment industry.

In a new interview with Saturday Beats, he talked about how he started in the music industry and why he flaunts his wealth on social media.

On how he started, the Sekem crooner said:

“I left Akwa Ibom for Lagos to hustle. Many people do not know that I was one of the first few Glo Rock and Roll ambassadors. I was the Mr. Rock and Roll 2009. I was given N250,000 and that was the first time I ever had that huge sum of money. I wanted to run mad. I came from Akwa Ibom in a night bus to contest. When I did the audition, I did not qualify, so I went back inside to meet the judges and I began to cry. I told them that they did not watch me well and I would love to dance again. They gave me an opportunity to dance again and when I did, they laughed and picked me. That was how I won. I was a Glo ambassador for two years
“I started out as a dancer and before I knew it, I became a comedian. I discovered my talents through hunger; there is a level of hunger that one gets to and the person has no choice but to discover his talent. I remember when I used to sleep in the club. After waking up early in the morning, I would wash the clothes I slept in so that I could resume work at the club,” he said.
On flaunting his wealth and how he makes his money, he said:
“People may want to question my source of wealth but they don’t know about the private shows that I do. Just because they don’t see me in all these big shows does not mean I am not working. As a matter of fact, who would pay you when you attend those big shows? You cannot see me there because I respect my business so much. I make my money myself.
“However, to be honest, Senator (Godswill) Akpabio is a good man. If you can gain access to him and ask him for money with a good reason, he would oblige you irrespective of where you are from. It doesn’t mean that he carries money about; neither does it mean that he just doles out money anyhow. When I was doing my album launch last year, he was present and he supported me financially. He also advises a lot.”
