Gay movies brought me fame – Nollywood Actor,Benson Okonkwo
When Nollywood actor and model, Benson Okonkwo, starred in a 2010 gay movie titled ‘One dollar’, he incurred the wrath of many movie fans. At the time, his critics were asking questions about his sexuality in real life.
But, Okonkwo, who has 30 movies to his credit, says he is unhappy about the negative reactions that trailed his decision to star in those movies. He insists that the public is ignorant of the fact that actions in movies are not real.
“Although these movies sparked off controversy about my sexuality, I make bold to say that Nigerians are hypocrites. They secretly enjoy watching porn movies, yet when they see Nigerian movies that contain suggestive scenes, they secretly watch them online and then drop anonymous comments. I am only acting and doing my job.
“Although I have acted as a homosexual three times, I am afraid of being tagged a stereotyped actor. Despite the fact that the gay controversy has brought me fame, I want people to remember that I have not starred in only gay or adult films. Contrary to what some persons think, I have never been sexually harassed by homosexuals. I am not a homosexual.”
Notwithstanding the negative comments, he says it took much willpower to get into character. “It was hard for me to accept the role at first, and it took a lot of convincing and support from the director before I could play the role,” he says.
Admitting that the ‘pay was right,’ Okonkwo says he enjoys the support of his loved ones in spite of the criticism. He says, “My family understands that I am only acting and the roles have nothing to do with my personal life or character, that’s why they stood by me and continue to stand by me. I believe that versatility is one thing any actor must possess, that way, he or she stands out.”

First Class Graduate Shot Dead By Cop
The victim had left his 67, Ahmadu Ahijo Street, Narayi-Highcost family residence last week Sunday full of life for a party at Barnawa , Kaduna, but could not return home as he was killed by a police constable.
According to PM News, his friend and eyewitness told said this morning, that the police constable identified as Alex Okpe was beating up his girlfriend outside the venue of the party and when Murtala tried to intervene, he got angry and pulled out his gun from his jeans trousers and fired straight into his heart.
According to an eyewitness who spoke under anonymity, after Murtala was shod dead, the police constable then fired again in the air twice to scare the people around and escaped on his motorcycle.
Moses Andrew, a friend who was with Muri, as he was popularly called, at the Time Out Lounge party venue in Barnawa, narrated that there was pandemonium after Muri was shot and Okpe, the policeman, had escaped .
“We were confused while trying to revive Muri, when a guy informed us that he knows a friend to Okpe’s girlfriend that had left the party for a club called X-One at Barnawa,” Andrew said.
According to him, they quickly moved to X-One and fortunately met her there.
“We picked the lady who identified the policeman who killed Muri as Alex Okpe, and that he serves at Kakuri Police Station but deployed to guard Nigerian Brewries Plc.,” Andrew added.
The killer policeman was later tracked down and arrested by officers from Barnawa Police Division after the case was reported there.
Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Femi Adenaike, who confirmed the incident, said it was true Alex Okpe was arrested and during interrogation confessed to have killed Murtala Aminu at a party venue.
Adenaike said Okpe claimed in his statement that he fired at Muri in “self defence” when he and his friends were trying fight him over his girlfriend.
He said the police didn’t send Okpe to Barnawa at that time and if he is found guilty, he would be dismissed and taken to court for trial.
“The suspect is in the cell and we have commenced investigation. And if he is found guilty, we will give him an in-house trial and summary dismissal so that he can face the law for homicide,” the state police boss said.
Adenaike urged the family of the deceased to remain calm as the police are doing everything possible to investigate the case and ensure justice is done.
The blind father of the late Muritala, Mohammed Jimoh, told journalists at press conference at their High-Cost residence that as a Muslim he’s taught to accept the death of his son and bread winner as an act of God.
But he said if his son had to die, it should not be in the hands of a policeman who should have been responsible for protecting him.
“Yes my son , a first class economist for that matter and our hope, is dead, but I want justice done in this case,” Aminu said.
Until Murtala Aminu’s death, he was the youth leader, Catholic Holy Family Church, Barnawa.
He also owned a shawamar and roasted fish outlet at Narayi-Highcost.

Ghanaian Music Group V.I.P Separate After 15 Years
The group, also made up of Joseph Nana Ofori (Prodigal), and Abdul Hamid Ibrahim (Lazzy now Zeal), went commercial in 1998 and over the years has been one of, if not, Ghana’s best music groups.
Manager of VIP, Bull Dog confirmed that Promzy has left the group. According to him, “Promzy exited the group based on personal reasons and as a group, VIP has a calling to its fan-base and VIP is bigger than one member of the group.” VIP, Bull Dog noted, “have come very far and they will not in any way disappoint [their fans].”
He was confident that, “VIP is here to stay and they are making sure they will never disappoint Ghana and Africa”

Then someone said there was this new guy and then they played his song and I liked it. Sometime later, we were at Cool FM and I spotted him jumping about and being very playful. He was so energetic; I liked him instantly and wanted him as my loveinterest in the video. So my manager called him up, he was so nice, he came over, we talked and he told me the day we were going to shoot the Video was his birthday. Then I got scared that he might not make it. BOAT SINKING: 111 Bodies Found
Divers off southern Italy have been searching the wreck of a boat which sank yesterday drowning more than 300 African migrants.At least 111 bodies have now been recovered and some 200 of those on board the 20m (66ft) boat are still unaccounted for.
Dozens of bodies are thought to remain in the sunken vessel.
There had been about 500 passengers on board - most from Eritrea and Somalia, according to the UN, with Rescuers saving155.
Some 100 bodies could remain in the wreck, which lies some 40m below the surface, Officials were quoted as saying.

PLANE CRASH: Meet The Miracle Man Who Walked Out Unhurt (PHOTO)
Akinsanya, son- in-law of the late former Governor Olusegun Agagu whose body was being conveyed to Akure, the Ondo State capital from Lagos for burial, walked out of the remains of the Embraer 120 aircraft.
Akinsanya, along with his brother in-law, Mr. Feyi Agagu, the late Agagu’s son, were the only family members of the late governor on board the
ill-fated plane.
As it turned out, they were among the seven survivors. As the aircraft crashed, Akinsanya, a Lagos businessman, was seen walking out of the wreckage before the aircraft caught fire. He suffered a minor injury on his head.
As he walked away, apparently conscious, Air Force men who were among the first set of rescuers at the site, stopped him. They assisted him to stop the flow of blood on his head. He told them he wanted to go home to join his family, according to an eyewitness.
But the Air Force personnel told him he was under the Federal Government’s custody and could not go. They took him to the nearby Air Force clinic.
The eye witness said: “I saw one man walk out on his legs. I think he is the only one that walked out.”
It was gathered that Aklinsanya broke the news of the crash to the burial party waiting at the Akure airport to receive the body of the former governor, which was to lie in-state in the Ondo State capital yesterday.
He reportedly spoke to Mr. Femi Agagu, the late former governor’s younger brother, who broke the news to Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who was leading the burial party.

Naya’s rep reportedly confirmed the news to JustJared.com.
The 26-year-old Glee actress has been dating the 25-year-old rapper for about six months. They made their first appearance together as a couple back in April at a movie premiere.
“I had followed him and he sent me a little message like, ‘I’m a fan.’ I tweeted that I followed him, I was trying to get his attention,” Naya previously told Access Hollywood about how she and Sean met. “We went to dinner and the rest is history.”

ASUU And FG Sued To Court Over Prolonged Strike
In a motion dated 30 September, 2013, Barrister Onwe is seeking an order of court to compel ASUU to call off the strike it embarked upon in protest over the unwillingness of government to implement certain aspects of the agreement they reached over the parlous state of Nigerian universities and other issues.
In a 15-paragraph affidavit filed along with the motion, Onwe is asking the court to declare that the indefinite strike embarked upon by ASUU, leading to the closure of government owned universities for three months, violates the fundamental rights of the students affected.
He argued that the continued strike action by ASUU has traumatized many students who now engage in all sorts of vices.
Onwe posited that the plight of the affected students has worsened as their contemporaries in private universities continue to attend lectures while they remain idle at home.
He urged the court to compel ASUU to open the universities for lectures to resume while their negotiation with the Federal Government continues.
No date has been fixed for hearing of the suit.

“Which Gbenga…?!”: How Obasanjo Reacted To News Of His Son’s Rumored Death In Plane Crash
Obasanjo who was in Abeokuta, was having a photo session with primary schools pupils, who had attended a leadership training programme for young leaders at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta.
And the attention of journalists covering the event was drawn to the sudden changes of the former president’s countenance that showed something was wrong after many calls poured in for him during the session.
Obasanjo was seen shivering and shaking shortly after he received the rumoured news.
During the conversation with his caller, which lasted afew seconds, Obasanjo, who was apparently disturbed asked his caller in Yoruba “Gbenga wo; o wa ni Abuja’’ (which literarily means which Gbenga?”He is in Abuja).
He ended the conversation, managed to pose for pictures and minutes later, whispered into the ears of Prof. Akin Mobogunje, the chairman of the Centre for Human Security of the (OOPL), who organised the ceremony and they left.
