ASUU Strike Update! Federal Government Resolved To Open Nigerian Varsities Nextweek With Or Without ASUU

The ASUU strike has extended a couple of months and the FG and ASUU haven’t been able to reach a compromise.

The latest news coming your way on ASUU strike is that the FG is set to open Nigerian Universities with or without ASUU, according to ScanNews Nigeria.
President Goodluck Jonathan will on Monday, November 4, meet with the leadership of ASUU at the Presidential Villa.

An official of the Vice President’s office who pleaded anonymity told Scan News that all hands are now on deck to ensure that the Universities resume next week.
The President will at next Monday’s meeting present to the ASUU leadership the administration’s last concession for them to call off the prolonged strike.

A source at the Presidential Villa noted that if ASUU fails to call off, the Federal Government will then resort to plan B, which will be to compulsorily open the Universities, using the instrumentality of the governing councils and the school managements.

Already, most of the governing councils of the Universities have started meeting to work out modalities for the compulsory re-opening of the Universities should ASUU fail to honour the personal request of President Jonathan.
It was gathered that security report available to the Presidency may have necessitated this line of action to salvage the Universities system from the direction it is facing at present.

Aki & Pawpaw Stopped From Shooting Movie in Kumasi, Ghana

Popular Nigerian actors Aki and Pawpaw whose fame got to its ultimate in the mid 2000′s when Nigerian movies became the toast of many across Ghana and for their intelligence in outwitting others in their movies have been abruptly stopped from shooting a movie in Kumasi with other actors including Kwadjo ‘Liwin’ Nkansah.

The directive which came from the Film Producers’ Association of Ghana (FIPAG) was due to the fact that the director of the movie had breached some of the association’s regulations.

Mr. Michael Ola, PRO for the association who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with NYDJlive explained the association had no qualms with the duo but believed the right procedure had to be followed especially when the new executives of the association had laid out new strategies to make the industry a better one.

The duo have therefore been asked to officially obtain documents from the Film Industry in Nigeria, working permit as well as make payments for the continuation of the shoot.

As at the time of publication, the duo and the production house in charge of the movie, Peace and Love Productions had commenced with procedure to make things easy for the continuation of the movie.

‘I see Nobody As Competition, Wizkid Is Not A Threat’ -Davido

Davido opened-up to Punch on his Skelewu video ,not being scared of competition &not seeing Wizkid as a threat
“Not at all. The rumour is cool. But I see nobody as competition or threat. God is behind me, so I just go into the studio, do my music and everything is fine. I develop and write most of my songs in the studio. I’m not afraid of competition or the fact that some person will just appear on the scene and take the shine. After all, I did it to some people, so I expect that it is something that must happen to everyone because you can’t be shining forever. But once you are good to others, make good music, have loyal fans, that’s all that matters.

I have plans to go into oil and gas business with my elder brother next year. I want to do music for 10 years. By that time, I will be 30, and free to rest. Some people are just starting out at 30 but I am already a success and threat at 20. Fame at a young age is a plus because I still have like 10 years to ball while some people are just starting at 27 and 30.”
On Skelewu

“The song is big already; so whatever we do people are still going to talk anyway. I shot the video like a movie and there are three videos, so people can watch whichever one they want.If you don’t like the instructional video, you can watch Sesan’s, if you don’t like that one; you can watch Moe Musa’s. If people want, I will shoot one more video, it’s not easy.”

Photos: D’Banj Flops In Zimbabwe, Gets Booed Off Stage

According to AllAfrica, the festival featured Ugandan reggae musician Bebe Cool and local dancehall artistes Winky D, Guspy Warrior and King Shaddy.
D’Banj represented West Africa while Bebe Cool represented East Africa.

D’Banj was the main attraction and when it was turn for him to perform, he exploded onto the stage
amid pomp and zest but soon fizzled out and slumped into near- pornography with some fans.

He ran out of steam after exhausting his familiar songs in less than an hour and went into what many revellers described as “hogwash”.

His opening song was “Fall in Love”, followed by “Oliver Twist”, “Kukere” remix, “Don’t Tell Me Nonsense”, “Igwe” and “Why Me”. Then he lost the plot.

Neither his scantily dressed dancers nor his swag was enough to sway the majority of the crowd that became visibly restless and disappointed.
So disappointing was his performance that he resorted to X-rated antics with ladies he calls “Kokolates” on the stage, in a bid to kill time.

Among the “Kokolates” was songstress Ammara Brown, who jumped on stage and joined in the dirty dancing.

“Let me see all my Kokolates on stage, now shake your boom boom and do the catwalk,” he said, amid boos from the crowd, especially men.
Some disgruntled fans hurled insults and obscenities.

D’Banj failed to impress and was the opposite of the Nigerian twins P-Square who performed at the same festival last year and left fans asking for more.
P-Square were even barred from leaving the stage by fans who craved for more.

“This guy should not have been the main act at the show. He has a few hit songs we know that he has performed. Now look at how he is whiling up the remaining time with the ladies,” said a fan in the crowd.

EFCC Arraigns Teen For Duping American Of $40million Over The Internet [MUGSHOT]

Suspected teenage Internet fraudster, Tobechukwu Igbokwe, and his accomplice, Ifeanyi Obi have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly defrauding an American of $40 million.

19-year-old Igbokwe and Obi have been held at the Kirikiri prisons since they were caught after a gig went burst.

Nigerian Eye reports that the American victim, Michael Silva had wired the total sum of $40 million to the boys in Nigerian believing them when they told him that they had a huge inheritance that they wanted to move to a foreign account for safekeeping.

Silva was asked to send money to “process” the transfer and he did so in instalments through Western Union Transfer.

Igbokwe and Obi have now been charged on 12-counts bordering on forgery, conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretences contrary to Sections 8(a) and 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No. 14 of 2006.

Appearing before Justice Lawal of a Lagos State High Court, Ikeja was alleged to have duped many other people, many of them foreigners he connected with through the internet under fraudulent guises among them a Tommy Bedwell, who lost $6,000 to him and Richard Hunt, $15,000.

According to reports, one of the charges against Igbokwe and Obi read: “Tobechukwu Igbokwe (alias David Prince, alias John Emma, sometimes in the month of October 2011 in Lagos, within the Ikeja Judicial Division, with intent to defraud, obtained $800, $700, $200, $400, $200, $300, $500, $500, $500, $200 (totalling $5,500).

“Which sum you obtained separately from Michael Silva of the United States of America under false pretence that the money represent part payment for processing inheritance funds due him as
a beneficiary of the fund and which pretence you knew was false.”

The case was adjourned for further hearing on December 3
