Tuface, who hails from the state visited Benue with his wife actress Annie Idibia, taking along with them relief materials to include food items.

(Photos) Island of Barbuda wiped out by hurriciane Irma

 The Caribbean island of Barbuda has been almost entirely wiped out by Hurricane Irma, with "90 per cent" of all buildings destroyed.

The devastating news was confirmed by an emotional Prime Minister Gaston Browne to local TV and radio station ABS.

"It is a total devastation - Barbuda now is literally a rubble,"

The cost to repair the infrastructure will be no less than 150 million dollars.

"Barbuda is barely habitable."At least 60 per cent of people are homeless, even where they are sheltering they are in damaged homes."

 he said.

This comes as it was revealed British billionaire, Richard Branson's Necker Island home has been completely destroyed by the hurricane .

He also confirmed that tragically a child died after her mother tried to escape a damaged home.

Miraculously, this is believed to be the only death on an island with a population of around 1,600.

Woman in labour jumps off hospital building after family said no to a cesarean

 A heavily pregnant woman who apparently committed suicide after begging for a caesarean was seen on CCTV doubled over in pain in the final hours before her death.

The 26-year-old woman and her unborn baby died after she fell from the fifth floor of the hospital she was being treated in.
She had reportedly begged for a caesarean after the baby’s head, which was too large for a natural delivery, caused her intense pain.


But she reportedly killed herself when her family, who under Chinese law had to give permission, refused her surgery.

This video shows her hobbling around the maternity ward in the final hours before her death.

The woman, who was reportedly 41 weeks pregnant, was unable to stand unaided and was visibly upset and in pain.

Doctors at the No 1 Hospital in the city of Yulin in Shaanxi Province, northern China, examined her and determined that she needed a caesarean as she was not able to give birth naturally because the baby’s head was too big.But her family insisted on a natural birth and refused her the right to undergo the procedure.

Under Chinese law, family must give their permission for a woman to have a C-section.

The woman fell to her death from the window after repeatedly trying to leave the medical centre.

Her unborn foetus also died in the incident.

The woman’s medical notes read: "The pregnant woman twice walked out of the ward to tell her family that she wanted a caesarean because she could no longer bear the pain, but the family continued to insist on a natural delivery."

Police told local media that the woman’s death was being treated as a suicide.

Her death has sparked protests online.

Man fights armed robber for stealing girlfriend’s phone, collects gun

A suspected armed robber, Michael David, has been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State, after he robbed a lady, identified simply as Kate, of her phone.

PUNCH Metro gathered that 22-year-old David and two other members of his gang, while armed with a locally-made double-barrelled pistol, attacked Kate and her boyfriend, one Desmond, on Close 26, Satellite Town, Ijegun, around 10pm.

They were said to have taken Kate’s mobile phone and threatened to shoot the couple dead if they resisted.


The gang had allegedly mounted a waiting motorcycle and were about speeding off when Desmond summoned courage and attacked the men.

He was said to have succeeded in pulling down David, as his girlfriend called for help.

Attempts by the suspect to shoot the victim failed, as the gun reportedly jammed.

The Imo State indigene was reportedly mobbed by residents, who handed him over to the police.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Edgal Imohimi, paraded David among seven other suspected robbers at the Police Officers’Mess, Ikeja, on Wednesday.
The suspect, who claimed to be a tiler, said he was not the owner of the gun, adding that it belonged to his friend, one Ahmed.

David said his gang had only approached the girl to collect her phone, adding that he was not an armed robber.

He said, “We were coming from a friend’s party around the Waterside area on that day when we sighted the girl passing with her boyfriend. We went to meet her to collect her phone and she suddenly raised the alarm. My friends ran away, but I was caught. I was not caught with the gun. Two to three hours after the incident, some OPC members brought the gun and said it belonged to me. I am not an armed robber and we didn’t attack the girl; we only collected her phone.”

When, however, the Investigating Police Officer challenged him on his denial of the gun, he owned up.

The policeman explained that the suspect had attempted to shoot Desmond and his girlfriend dead when the gun jammed.

“He made an attempt to shoot at them, but the gun disappointed him. He was the one holding the gun,” he said.

Community seals pastor’s house for burying charms in land

The Ipinsa community in the Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State has accused a pastor, identified as Abiodun, of involving in fetish activities in the town.

It was gathered that sequel to the development, the traditional ruler of the community, Oba Omoniyi Olufunmilayo, on Tuesday ordered that Abiodun’s land in the community and his house located in the Ayedun area of Akure,  should be sealed up.



Abiodun was accused of burying a coffin and some other fetish items on his piece of land in the community.


A source said after discovering what the pastor did on the land, the community asked him to remove the items, but he refused.

The source said,

“The failure of the pastor to remove the fetish items on the land prompted the people of the community to take action against him.
“The Akapinsa of Ipinsaland, Oba Omoniyi Olufunmilayo, ordered that palm fronds should be placed in front of his house and the land, which traditionally means that the house has been sealed up until kabiyesi reverses the order.”

According to the source, the land and the house will remain sealed up until the pastor digs up and removes the items he buried in the land.

When contacted on the telephone, Oba Olufunmilayo said he would not make any comment on the development on the telephone.

He said, “If you want to talk to me, come and see me in my palace.”

The pastor was said to have left the community and his whereabouts was unknown as of the time of filing this report

Serena Williams step mother has fallen out with the Williams family, so much so that she alleges Serena is evicting her from the Florida home she's living in.

Richard Williams, the 75-year-old father to famed tennis players, Serena and Venus Williams, filed for divorce from Lakeisha Juanita Williams, 35, in June after seven years of marriage.
Now Lakeisha says Serena's legal team has ordered her out of the Palm Beach house Serena owns with her father- immediately.

TMZ reports that in court documents, Lakeisha claims Serena's people are 'requesting she and the child vacate the home and threatened to change the locks.'

The child is Serena's half brother, 5-year-old Dylan Williams.

Lakeisha is also asking the court to force the sale of another property they owned together because she needs the money. She says in the emergency motion, according to TMZ, that Richard has 'health issues' and could die, and is concerned his money would be tied up for years while the court decides who gets what portion of his estate.

Richard and Lakeisha's divorce was contentious from the start.

According to Daily Mail, in his petition, the tennis coach accused his wife of being an alcoholic who stole his social security checks and forged his signature to transfer their cars and a house under her name - allegations she disputed in her latest filing.
Richard also claimed she moved out last year and left their now 5-year-old son, Dylan, in his exclusive care.
But Lakeisha says she's the one raising their son, adding that school teachers would back up her claims.

EFCC arrests top Gombe SEMA official for diverting materials meant for IDPs

Operatives of the Gombe Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested Secretary to Gombe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Danlami Arab Rukuje, for alleged involvement in the diversion of materials meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).


His arrest followed a tip-off  received by the Intelligence and Special Operations Section (ISOS) of the office.
The materials, which include cans of paints and bags of cement meant as building materials donated to the state by the Presidential Committee on the North-East Initiatives (PCNI), never made it to the IDP camps. Investigations revealed that they were, instead, diverted to other areas including markets, for sale.

A team of operatives acting on the information immediately swung into action, and located shops where the materials were being sold. The Gombe State Fertilizer Grinding Plant where some of the materials were kept was also raided. A store keeper at the state’s Emergency Agency, Isa Garba, was subsequently arrested.

Further investigations, led to the arrest of a staff of the state’s Fertilizer Grinding Plant, Mu'azu Suleman KT.

The suspects will be charged to court, as soon as investigations are concluded.
