Some dancers, video vixens, sleep with artistes for jobs – Dancer, Beyonce

Nigerian professional dancer and choreographer, Elizabeth Joseph, aka ‘Beyonce’, may not be a household name, but her face has been very popular in the videos of top artistes, because she’s highly skilled and talented at her craft. In an exclusive chat with Showtime, Beyonce who is currently recovering from a fatal motorcycle accident which occurred on the 3rd of May 2017 along Third Mainland Bridge while hurrying for a music video shoot on the island revealed that some professional dancers actually sleep with artistes just to dance in their music videos. She condemned dancers who perpetrate such act just to secure a job.

“Yeah, some do it because they are desperate and want to be in all videos; so in that case they sell their body to directors and artistes just to be known. But you who know what you’ve got won’t be desperate; rather you’ll be focused, prayerful and work hard to achieve your dream as a world super star dancer. As a pro dancer that knows what she has, she doesn’t need to sleep with any artiste or director to get jobs because of what you have in you”, she said.

She went further to condemn nudity, a trend which has become very prevalent in music videos of Nigerian artistes.

“Nudity in music videos has caused controversy since the late 1970s, and several explicit videos have either been censored or banned. Nudity has gained wider acceptance in music videos, the audience view nudity and sensuality as less objectionable than the depiction of void. But in contrast, the flagrant display of nudity is what actually helps to sell the video, contrary to popular opinion that talent, originality and creativity should”, she mused.

Small Doctor didn’t brutalize anyone; it’s a false rumour – Manager Responds

During the week , a Twitter user simply identified as @The_Nifemi claimed that he allegedly witnessed popular Nigerian singer,  Small Doctor and his crew members beating up a Tricycle rider along Mobil Akilo Road, Ogba, Lagos, claiming that the bloody occurrence was too interesting to be captured on video.

“I just witnessed Small Doctor and his crew beat up a Marwa guy opposite Mobil Akilo Road, Ogba. It was too interesting to make a video”, he wrote on twitter.

In order to confirm from his management, showtime reached out to Small Doctor’s manager, Segun Raheem, to hear their side of the story and in an exclusive chat. Here is what he had to say;

“It’s just a false and baseless rumour from his haters; it never happened. Small Doctor was not even at Ogba that day; he was actually with Pasuma at Omole Estate that very day. So wherever they are getting their false news from I don’t know, because it never happened anywhere. If they have pictures or video as evidence then let them bring it out for us to see”, he said emphatically.

Dirty divorce? Neymar set to sue Barcelona

Neymar  wants to sue his past employer, Barcelona at the Fifa, after his 222 million euro move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports has it that, the 25-year-old Brazilian is preparing for a legal war and wants to call for an arbitration by the FIFA World Cup,  Brazilian portal “GloboEsporte” reported. The law suit involves a sum of EUR 26 million, which Neymar and his father, who is also his manager, are to receive as a bonus in 2016 for the contract renewal negotiated with Barça by 2021.

From the point of view of FC Barcelona, Neymar did not stick to the then-made agreements. He had assured, inter alia, to negotiate with no other club before 31 July 2017. That is why the Catalans want to withhold this sum, because Neymar played only one of the five contract years in Barcelona, agreed in October 2016.

In order to make the record transfer possible, Paris had to withdraw the withdrawal clause stipulated in the contract and pay 222 million euros to Barcelona.

Sermon: Kenneth Copeland – Meditate On The Word

Topic: Meditate On The Word [Friday August 11, 2017]

And [God] brought [Abram] forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. – Genesis 15:5-6

Do you ever have trouble believing the Word of God? Not just agreeing with it mentally, but really believing that what it says will work for you?

I do. There are times when the promises in the Word stagger my mind. There have been times when I’ve felt so defeated and the circumstances around me looked so bad that it was tough for me to believe I was “more than a conqueror” even though I knew God said I was.

What do you do when your mind staggers like that at the promise of God? You meditate on that promise.

Scriptural meditation simply means thinking about and reflecting on the Word of God. It means pondering a particular scripture and mentally applying it to your own circumstances again and again until that scripture permanently marks your consciousness.

That kind of meditation can affect your life in a way that almost nothing else can. It can, quite literally, alter your mind. That’s what happened to Abram.

When God first told him that he was going to father a nation, he was an old man. His wife, Sarai, was also old. What’s more, she had been barren all her life. How could an aging, childless couple have even one child—much less a nation full of them? Abram couldn’t even imagine such a thing. It contradicted his entire mindset.

But God knew the mental struggle Abram would have, so He didn’t just make him a verbal promise and leave it at that. He gave Abram a picture of that promise to meditate on. He took him out into the starry night, turned his eyes to the sky and said, “So shall thy seed be.”

Can’t you just see Abram staring out at the stars, trying to count them? Filling the eyes of his heart with the promise of God?

That’s what meditation is all about. Taking time to envision the promise of God until it becomes a reality inside you. It’s tremendously powerful, and by focusing on the scriptural promises God has given you, you can put it to work in your life just as Abram put it to work in his.

Don’t just read the Word. Meditate on it today.

Scripture Reading: Romans 4:13-25

Police arrest herbalist for alleged fraud

According to Punch, the Edo State Police Command said it has arrested an Osun-based herbalist, identified as one Usman Mohammed, for allegedly defrauding a woman of the sum of N6m.

The victim was said to have given him the money for ritual purposes in order to increase the amount to N12m.

But Usman, who was paraded on Thursday in Benin, told Southern City News that his victim lost the money because she was looking for what she did not keep
He, however, confirmed that he got half of the amount received from the woman as his share, while the remaining was shared among other members of his team.

Usman said, “I live in Osun State and I was arrested in Osun State. She (victim) is from Benin (Edo State). She patronised my office because I do ‘medicine’ for her. Before she requested for money ritual, she said I should do something to make her business to grow.

“When she requested for money rituals, I said she must bring the money. She said she had N6m. I told her to bring a big bag and the money. I told her to keep the bag somewhere and the money will double to N12m and that was what she requested.

“She kept the bag in her room for three days and the day she opened it, there was no money inside. I told her she was the reason the money did not double. I got N3m but the other people ran away. She is looking for what she did not keep.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Haliru Gwandu, noted that suspects paraded would be charged to court at the end of investigations.

How did the acting journey start for you?

Well, after I finished my NYSC I decided to study the industry to figure out where to start from and because of my social media presence I was able to get a role fast enough. I was called upon to feature in a movie titled Ghost Lover and that was my first lead role.

How many films have you done all together?
I have done about eight movies.

What actually inspired you to go into acting?
I have always wanted to be an actor right from when I was a mere child; all of my friends were always telling me I was too dramatic to pass up the chance of becoming an actor. I have always had a way of expressing myself dramatically, I am quite emotional. I discovered it’s something I’d love to do because if there is anything I love to do it’s not being me. I love getting into different characters and just do what I have to do, it’s more fun, it’s like a hobby, it’s something I love

Is that why they say every actor is deceptive by nature?
Well, I don’t really know and I am not ruling it off completely too. I can’t say I am deceptive but I am not perfect. I think I just like the fact that I could just act like you or act like any other person but not me. There are times when I have been in bad situations and I just had to act, not in the movies, I mean for real, out of the situations. I have had to pretend, I fainted to escape punishment at home or in school.

Looking at your Instagram account, you have over 650 thousand followers; how did that happen?
I have been on Instagram for five years now. When I joined I took my cue from people like Kim Kardarsian, and a lot of UK models; the way they dance, video themselves, doing a lot of musical stuffs and people go there and start commenting, saying nice things and I said to myself, ‘I can do this’ and when I did people got attracted to my page. My followers are not only Nigerians, they are from everywhere in the world, because I dance and it attracts them. When I dance, it is not traditionally, I can move my body in all sorts of ways so they got interested and then, I post quality pictures. Sometimes, I put up my pictures with motivational write ups, so it’s not just about telling people you’re pretty it’s also about inspiring people. At a point some people got addicted to my write ups, it comes like my caption to each post and then the Sniper Energy drink endorsement thing too helped me gain much popularity.

Are you sure you didn’t get all these followers by showing your butt or boobs?
I wouldn’t lie; I have shown a bit of my boobs not the full boobs though. If you go through my profile there are some pictures that show my cleavage; though that was in the past, mostly in 2013. I did this twerk video and that very day I got 10,000 followers on Instagram.

What kind of comment do you mostly get?
I was getting supportive comments initially, until the negative ones started coming. I used to report or delete negative comments until I realized I have to be open to both criticisms and praises. I get comments like; ‘when next are you posting,’ ‘I love your post because of the inspirational write ups,’ ‘over hyped bitch, you think your boobs are better than mine’ etc. But somehow I don’t see the negative comments again and it’s not like I reported them but they just vanished. But on my Facebook I get wonderful comments from different people, married women, men, teenagers, and adults. They tell me nice things and they comment based on my inspirational write ups, and when I show my boobs they would be like nice one but please can you cover up a little and I am like you have it flaunt it.

What’s the nicest thing ever said about your boobs?
Well, I have heard someone say: ‘Felicia Fred you’re so blessed, you’re slim and have nice boobs’.

Have you encountered a bully?
Yes, a lot. There was someone that told me, ‘if you don’t delete this picture I will hack your account’. They threatened several times; you know we have crazy people out there. I have seen situations where people asked me to sell my account to them.

What are the highlights of your careers so far?
I have been the face of Sniper energy drink in Nigeria, and sometimes I do Instagram modeling, showcasing their products, then I snap and advertise on my page, that’s all.

Was the Sniper energy drink endorsement rewarding?
Of course it was rewarding, surprisingly.

‘I was called a dog’ – Olu Jacobs recounts racism experiences

Popular Nollywood actor, Olu Jacobs, in an interview discussed the beginning of his career, his father’s opinion on acting and why he chose the UK.

He spoke with Punch on his father’s decision when he decided to pursue an acting career and said:

My dad did not want me to go to England. I was his favourite child. When I said that I wanted to act, he said I should do something else and not anything that would take me away from him.

When I got to London, I had to send him a message. As the closest person to him in the family, I knew the right thing that would calm him was tobacco. My father loved tobacco. He was a piper.

So I bought him a new pipe and some tobacco and sent them to him through somebody who was travelling home. And he forgave me for disobeying him.

Speaking on why he chose the UK, he explained that to be an actor back then, you had to practice outside the country.

At that time, if you desired to do this job that we are doing in the arts, you had to go to either Europe or America.

France was out of the question for me because I didn’t speak French. I still don’t speak French neither do I speak German or Russian.

English was the language of communication that I knew and whatever I wanted to learn I preferred to do it in the language that I understood. And since we already had a relationship between Britain and Nigeria, it was much easier for me to go to England.

Olu Jacobs was asked about the difficulties he experienced after arriving in England. He said:

Providence must have had a hand in it. I think good luck was following me everywhere I went. Back then, to become an actor in England, you must be able to have an equity card. The card was issued by the actors’ union in that country.

To get the card, you must have a job. And to get a job, you must have an agent.

I was a victim of racism all the time. You felt it in the way the people looked at you and in their attitude toward you. But you could not do anything about it. I could not take somebody to court for that.

Discussing an especially racist experience, Olu Jacobs said a woman once called him a dog:

A white woman once called me a dog. She had a vacant room for rent. But when I approached her, she asked if I didn’t see the ‘No dogs’ sign on her door.

Before I could respond, she said that a dog was better than me and then slammed the door in my face. I felt so bad that I almost decided to return to Nigeria.

Boy with 12 inch hands called the devil and shunned by villagers

A boy with 12 inch long hands has been shunned by all his friends and refused entry to every school in his area.

According to his family, 12-year-old Tarik can't dress himself and has been labelled 'the devil' by villagers who believe his large hands to be the result of a curse.
The young boy, from Uttar Pradesh, India, works on a tea stall and lives with his brother.

His aunt, Pushpa, said:

"Since birth, his hands were always big. As he started growing his hands got bigger.
"When his father was alive he took him to the local doctors a lot. But his father passed away and he only has his mother now, so he can't get any treatment."

Tarik's older brother, Hargyan, takes care of Tarik and helps him with simple daily tasks that his hands prevent him from being able to do.

Hargyan said: "His hands are really big. I have never seen such big hands in my life. He is stuck in his life. He cant even change his clothes. I have to look after Tarik.
"Its difficult for Tarik to complete his daily chores like bathing, dressing, and eating."

The condition, which has not been diagnosed by doctors, has caused Tarik's huge hands to grow to a length of 12 inches.

Sadly that has resulted in Tarik being bullied by his neighbours and friends. He was also refused admission to school.

Tarik said: "I had few friends in the beginning but now I don't have any.
"People are scared of my hands. I wanted to study but school refused my admission.

Man wishes actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde death for declining his marriage proposal

A young man who is obviously obsessed with Nollywood star actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has taken to Facebook to wish her, her family and her female colleagues dead after she allegedly declined to accept his marriage proposal.

The young man, Godwin Ahmed, had apparently asked the actress to marry him on her wall but she reacted by blocking him and that act made him go completely mad and decided to pour all manners of invectives on her.

Even when people tried to caution the Lokoja, Kogi State-born Ahmed to mind his words, he went on and on, saying that Omotola would die by accident while her husband and children would all die by fire.

Not done yet, he also took his anger out on other actresses, calling them prostitutes who will all meet their untimely deaths soon. Ahmed started by posting:

'My aim is to marry Omotola, the actress.'

Apparently, such a proposal did not sit well with the actress who is happily married with four children and she promptly blocked him. That action brought out the beast in Ahmed and he went on a rant.

                 Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

Read some of the things he posted here:

'Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, your death must surely come heavily this year by an accident.'

'Omotola, both you and your husband including all your four children must perish in a fire accident and all your bodies must be burnt to ashes.'

'Idiot, shameless, lousy actress, full of pride.... Oloshi alakori weredud danbanza kawai.'

After many other users castigated him for making such posts while others begged him to take down the posts, he gave out his reason:

'I asked her hand in marriage and she blocked me on Facebook. That is why I became very upset.''

Muslim woman awarded $85000 after her hijab was forcibly removed by policeman

A Muslim woman whose hijab was pulled off by a male officer while she was in police custody, has been awarded $85,000 .

Kirsty Powell, an African American Muslim filed a lawsuit, in 2016 and it prompted the Long Beach Police Department to reverse its policy barring inmates from wearing religious head coverings.

The case started in May 2015 when Powell and her husband were stopped by two officers because he was driving a lowrider vehicle on Long Beach Boulevard, Rifahie said.

She provided them with her identification information. When officers ran her name through their database, they discovered she had three misdemeanor warrants for petty theft, vehicle theft and resisting arrest, police said.

Powell was not aware that a warrant had been issued for a 2002 petty theft offense, her attorney said. The other warrants were issued after Powell’s sister had falsely used her name, according to the federal lawsuit.

As officers prepared to arrest Powell, her husband requested that a female officer be called to the scene since physical contact must be done by a woman, the lawsuit contends.

The officers refused and handcuffed Powell, according to the suit. She was then told she would have to remove her hijab.

Powell told the officers “that she wears a hijab in accordance with her religious practice and that it is her legal right to wear it,” the lawsuit said.

She was driven to the Long Beach police station, where she was booked and stripped of her hijab in front of other male officers and inmates, according to the lawsuit.

Powell was detained for 24 hours without her hijab. Once she was allowed to leave, she was given a property bag containing it.

“She was held in the jail overnight, forced to sit in a cell feeling distraught, vulnerable and naked without her headscarf to everyone that passed,” the lawsuit said. “She cried throughout the ordeal and experienced humiliation when both her religious beliefs and personal integrity were violated. She felt that the male officers and male inmates had seen parts of her body that they should not have seen, according to her religious beliefs.”

Shortly after her release, Powell reached out to CAIR, the Muslim civil rights organization, to go over her options.

Ambode Reveals When ‘Danfo’ Buses Will Be Out Of Lagos Roads

Lagos state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Thursday announced that the first set of 5,000 new buses that would replace ‘danfo’ bus will be unveiled within the next six months.

The governor made this known when students of the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School of Government, United States of America, paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House in Ikeja.

He said the 5000 new buses would be the first step by his administration to change the existing transportation system predominantly driven by the yellow buses, popularly known as danfo.

He said: “In the last one year, we have decided that we must integrate rail, road water and air transportation systems in such a way that the system of connectivity is improved upon and I would like to have a direct partnership on how that can actually be actualised.

“Right now, we are cleaning out all the yellow buses you see in the state. As we proceed in the next six months and a span of three years, we are introducing 5,000 new buses of European standard to actually clean up the city, because, if you want to grow the economy of Lagos, transportation is key and then it’s a major infrastructure for tourism itself.

“The question is: How do you move 23 million people on a daily basis from point A to point B with ease and comfort? So, the way the city has been so designed in the last few years, the city has actually concentrated on only one mode of transportation, which is road transportation.

“There are eight million people walking on the streets of Lagos every minute, did we create more points for them? The answer is ‘no’. We have one-fifth of the state on water, are we doing effective water transportation? The answer is ‘no’.

“The rail system is still under construction in such a way that it can move mass number of people from one point to another. That is why we have a whole lot of congestion on the road.

Meanwhile, bus conductors in Lagos state have finalised arrangements for their members to start wearing uniforms and name-tags.

Aviwe Jam Jam’s body was identified by her family on Tuesday after it was found at the Vygieskraal Stadium, Athlone, on July 29, roughly 24km from her home.

Captain FC van Wyk saidthe post mortem still needed to be concluded.

The boyfriend was arrested last week in connection with "several other cases" and is being investigated in connection with her murder.

Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula visited the family at their home.
Later, he told journalists that police had been looking for the boyfriend in connection with other cases.

Aviwe's aunt Nondumiso Zizi said her niece had told her mother that she had left for Pretoria and that she should not look for her because she was hiding from her boyfriend.

Zizi was unable to confirm when Aviwe left Khayelitsha. She said Aviwe and her boyfriend had been together for "several years" and have a 2-year-old child.

"Aviwe was in an abusive relationship with this boyfriend. Aviwe’s mother tried to warn Aviwe of this, but she wouldn't listen. She loved [her] boyfriend, so there was nothing we could do about it."
"Aviwe’s mother suspected that Aviwe won’t come [back] alive because the way the boyfriend was treating her."

Zizi said the boyfriend and a group of friends attacked the stepfather with a panga and he had to get 12 stitches.

"He [the stepfather] was bleeding and the whole yard was full of blood because of them and the boyfriend climbed on top of him and said they should kill him."

Ogun prophet, accomplice kill girl for ritual in church(Photo)

A self-acclaimed prophet of a white garment church in the Sagamu area of Ogun State, Kehinde Onayiga, has been arrested by the state police command for the alleged killing of a 13-year-old girl, Anuoluwapo Ajisafe, for ritual purposes.

The suspect was arrested together with an accomplice, Musiliu Jibril, who allegedly lured the victim into Onayiga’s church where she was killed.

Onayiga and Jibril were among 56 suspects paraded by the Ogun State Police Command at the command’s headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, for offences bordering on ritual killing, kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, impersonation, among others.

Jibril told journalists that it was Onayiga who contracted him to source for a female virgin, adding that she was to be used with some fetish materials for some Internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys).

He said, “I was able to lure the girl because she and her mother trusted me. It was the prophet (Onayiga) that contracted me to get a female virgin for ritual. He told me he wanted to prepare some charms for some Yahoo boys.
“I delivered the girl to him in his church at Sagamu and he promised to pay me N20,000. I am yet to get the money.”

Onayiga, who was dressed in his religious regalia while holding two goat horns wrapped in red cloths, denied the allegation.

He said, “It is a lie; he did not deliver any girl to me in my church.”

Onayiga said he trained under an Islamic cleric before leaving to start a white garment church.

Asked what he used the fetish-looking goat horns for, he responded, “I use them to pray for those brought to my church for healing.”

PUNCH Metro gathered that Anuoluwapo went missing on June 21, 2017, and her whereabouts had remained unknown till date.

Kogi First lady comes to aid of mother of triplets abandoned by husband(Photos)

Kogi State’s First Lady, Mrs Rashida Bello, has offered assistance to Mrs Mikailu, who was abandoned by her husband after she gave birth to triplets.

According to her Non-Governmental Organization, Kogi Women and Youth Advancement Foundation (KOWYAF) Facebook page;

“The birth of multiple children brings joy to parents, and in some cultures in Nigeria, it is seen as a blessing. But the birth of triplets to Mr and Mrs Mikailu disrupted their peaceful family coexistence as Mr Mukailu ran away from the home leaving the poor woman to care for the triplets alone.
Hope however is at the end of the tunnel for Mrs Mukailu because KOWYAF is poised to see to the needs of vulnerable women and children in Kogi State, as I have made provision for basic needs like baby milk, diapers and toiletries, and these items have been presented by Hon Olamide Adesoro and the Honourable Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon Bolanle Amupitan.
I will also ensure that Mrs Mikailu becomes empowered to be able to fend for herself and the children.”

Here’s How Enugu State Governor Honored The Girl Who Had All As In Her WAEC

Chinecherem Cynthia Ali was today awarded scholarship by Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to study in any school of her choice.

Recall that Chinecherem, a student of Shalom Academy, Nsukka, Enugu state, made all A’s in the just released West African Examination Council (WAEC) results.

Chibulu Austin disclosed the latest development today on Facebook.

“Thanks to Erochukwu Ugwueze Hon Ethel Ugwuanyi Chibulu Austin Victor Oluchukwu Samuel Ugwu and all who made it possible.
Remember I made a post not long ago about how she made 9A1 in her Waec and also my encounter with her when I visited her school to appreciate her on behalf of my friend who donated to her.
We will keep celebrating excellence and hard work. Enugu Is Truly In The Hands Of God.”

In his remark by Governor Ugwuanyi called on students in the state to our children to see Cynthia’s achievement as a morale booster that will spur them to higher heights of achievement

“I was excited beyond measure when news got to me that a young girl from our dear State made A1 in all her subjects at the last West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations,” he said.

I was excited because as a leader of the people, our vision has been to lay the foundations that does not just encourage but also rewards excellence across all spheres of endeavour.

Cynthia Ali has in no small measure made the entire state proud and her achievement is a demonstration of how our dear state can become great again with exemplary performances such as hers. And I am convinced that what she has done will become a shining beacon of examples that those coming behind her can copy and in the process lift their families, the entire state and the nation.

As a measure of how happy our Government is about the achievement, the State Executive Council (EXCO) at the hallowed Chambers of the Council invited her for commendation. The Commissioner for Education, Prof Uchenna Eze, who spoke on our behalf made it clear how excited we were about what she was able to achieve and offered her a university scholarship.

I have always made clear the determination of my Government to not only reward excellence, but also to create the environment necessary for our young minds to express fully and maximise opportunities that will enable the state become a haven for competent manpower.

As a government, we will continue to invest in education. We are aware that nothing liberates a society more than education.

It is on this note that I call on all our children in public and private institutions of learning to see Cynthia’s achievement as a morale booster that will spur them to higher heights of achievement.

I congratulate this our young daughter and my prayer and wish is for more of our children to emulate her example. I also call on all citizens of the State to continue on the path of hardwork and excellence.

In the end, only hardwork and excellence provides enduring reward’.
