President Goodluck Jonathan Replies Lagos State Governor

President Goodluck Jonathan has
reacted to the claim by Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, that his administration has been inactive in the last three years. He described Fashola’s claims as deliberate misinformation.

Speaking through his Senior Special
Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, Jonathan said Fashola might have been too occupied in Lagos to see and appreciate the lofty developments his administration has carried in the country.

President Jonathan said it was not true that he has been lying to Nigerians on the issue of insurgency. Acknowledging that there were challenges in the curtailing the activities of  the insurgents, he said  his administration is doing its best.

He also denied Fashola’s allegation that he and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were planning to give the electorate kerosene, rice and money to win their support in the 2015 elections.

Ebola Is Not Airborne - W.H.O Opens Up

The World Health Organization (WHO) yesterday reiterated its position that the risk of transmission of Ebola virus disease during air travel remains low.

“Unlike infections such as influenza or tuberculosis, Ebola is not airborne,” says Dr Isabelle Nuttall, Director of WHO Global Capacity Alert and Response in a release on Thursday.

“It can only be transmitted by direct
contact with the body fluids of a person who is sick with the disease.

According to the UN health agency, on the small chance that someone on the plane is sick with Ebola, the likelihood of other passengers and crew having contact with their body fluids is even smaller. Usually when someone is sick with Ebola, they are so unwell that they cannot travel. WHO therefore advised against travel bans to and from affected countries.

“Because the risk of Ebola transmission on airplanes is so low, WHO does not consider air transport hubs at high risk for further spread of Ebola,” says Dr Nuttall.

Nicki Minaj Sued

Nicki Minaj has been hit with a lawsuit for allegedly breaking a contract by cutting a performance short.

The CEO at production company IMP Entertainment filed documents in Manhattan Supreme Court in New York City on Wednesday, claiming the ‘pound the alarm’ hitmaker agreed to play an hour-long set a (NBA) All-Star event in February 2011 alongside Drake and Lil Wayne.

In the contract, nicki was slated to perform for 1 hour at Los Angeles’ Siren Studios, but she allegedly arrived some minutes late, and once on stage, she only played for 30 minutes before leaving the stage.

In the legal documents, obtained by the New York Daily News, Minaj was paid $53,050 to cover her fees and expenses prior to the gig, and her “abbreviated appearance defeated the entire purpose of the agreement.”

IMP Entertainment executives are seeking to recoup the cash and other unspecified damages.
