Inter Tribal Clash in Kenya Leaves 7 Dead

It has been a bloody weekend in Narok County in Kenya as not less than seven persons have been killed in an inter tribal clashes that is rocking the county.

The clashes between the Maasai and Kipsigis tribes began when a Maasai businessman, Ben Kolian, was killed at about 9pm Saturday as he drove to his house.

Mr Kolian was ambushed as he drove home in his taxi by unknown people,” Deputy County Commissioner, Mohammed Noor said.

According to him, the incident triggered a retaliation that led to the death of a 20-year-old Kipsigis man, Nicolas Ngetich whose body was discovered at the Pusanki trading centre with deep cuts to its head.
Police later discovered five more bodies on Sunday morning, all dumped in a bush in the town of Esoit.
Esoit chief Samuel Naiduya said he heard war cries all through the night. He also explained that the Maasai and Kipsigis tribes have been spoiling for war since after the expiration of a five-month ‘truce’.
The area is clash-prone and there has been a relative spell of peace since the last round of fighting in April this year,” Chief Naiduya said.
Nation reports that security officers have been deployed to restore peace in the affected areas and that police officers are hunting down the killers.
Tribal clashes aren’t very frequent in Kenya but when they do occur, they usually leave a lot of devastation.
