It was third time lucky Denzel Washington as the Hollywood actor had to ask his wife to marry him three times before she said yes.
The flight star has been married to Pauletta the mother of his four children, for 30 years but was forced to get down on one knee on three separate occasions before she would agree to wed.
Washington himself forgot the two previous refusals and had to be reminded by his wife, who joked that age sometimes was getting the better of his memory.
Speaking to Access Hollywood at the premier of the actor's latest movie 2 Guns in New York on Monday, Pauletta declared ,"it was three times. i know with age sometimes things (go), the mind".
Washington added " Why was it twice?why would i have to ask again?" and when informed by his wife that she turned him down he added, You heard it here first, she turned me down and said no".
2 Guns, which also stars Mark Wahlberg, opens in cinema across the U.S ON Friday (02 Aug 13)
