According to YouTube, “Gangnam Style” has now been viewed so many times — more than 2.15 BILLION — that it busted YouTube’s video views counter.
“We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met PSY,” the company shared on Google Plus.
YouTube said “Gangnam Style” has been watched so many times they were forced to upgrade their system to a 64-bit integer. That means the next video to break YouTube will have to be viewed more than 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 times.
While 9.22 billion might seem like an impossible number to break, time keeps marching on — and “Gangnam Style” is still galloping. So in five to seven years, we may be talking about Psy breaking YouTube once more.
