Son of Brazilian Football Legend Pele Sentenced To 33 years In Jail For Money Laundering

The son of former Brazil striker Pele, Edson Cholbi do Nascimento has been sentenced to 33 years in prison for laundering money earned from drug trafficking, Brazilian media reported.

Edinho, who played football as a goalkeeper for Santos, had previously served a jail term for drug trafficking between 2005 and 2006.

A judge had, on Friday, found him guilty of money laundering, and handed him the 33-year sentence.

While he is expected to appeal the judgement, his passports have been seized by the authorities.
