Big Blow! Chelsea Crisis as Morata out 6 Weeks

Morata

Chelsea have been dealt a huge blow after it emerged that Alvaro Morata could be facing six weeks on the sidelines.

Morata, 24, hobbled off in the 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

And now Antonio Conte ‘s worst fear has come to life with the discovery that the damage is worse than first feared, Sun writes.

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) have confirmed after tests that Morata has suffered a grade two hamstring tear that could keep him out for the whole of October and potentially for half of November.

This leaves Conte is short on forwards as he attempts to steer his side back in contention for the Premier League after falling six points behind early pacesetters City and Manchester United.

Belgian Michy Batshuayi is now his only recognised centre-forward in the side.

The injured ex-Real Madrid and Juventus star is now likely to miss four crucial top-flight matches against Crystal Palace, Watford, Everton and Bournemouth.

And also in the Champions League where the Blues take on Italian Serie A side AS Roma in a massive doubleheader later this month.

The ex-Real Madrid and Juventus striker has scored seven goals in his first ten matches for the champions since his record transfer from the Bernabeu in the summer, making light of the absence of Diego Costa.

He’s also taken that form onto the international stage by scoring three goals in his last two appearances for Spain.
