Breaking: MTN, Beat FM to shut down over fuel scarcity

The acute shortage of petroleum products in Nigeria is getting to a level presently unheard of. Petrol stations do not have fuel to sell and the price on the ‘ Black Market‘ has gone beyond the roof, to the extent that corporate Nigeria is feeling the impact as well.

Leading urban radio station, BeatFM 99.9 just tweeted via official and verified Twitter handle that the station will shut down at 8:30pm tonight due to fuel shortage for them to be back at some point tomorrow.

Nigeria’s leading telcoms firm, MTN has also issued a statement saying it’s been drastically affected by the scarcity and most of it’s base stations that run on fuel can’t keep up with the current scarcity.

According to the station, as such, ‘The Network will be seriously degraded and customers will feel its impact.’
