FG asks court to revoke Kanu's bail

The Federal Government has approached the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking the revocation of the bail granted the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The application was attached to a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Minister of Justice, Mr. Salihu Isah.

The federal government said the application is sequel to Kanu’s breach of his bail conditions.

It said: “The 1st defendant (Kanu) is standing trial for alleged offences of conspiracy to commit acts of treasonable felony and other related offences before this court.
“The offence for which he is standing trial is not ordinarily bailable but due to the magnanimity of the court and its quest for justice and fairness, he was granted bail on health grounds.
“Among the other conditions for his bail is that he should not be seen in a crowd exceeding 10 people and he should not grant any interviews, hold or attend any rallies.
“And that he should file in court, medical updates of his health status every month. But rather than observing all of the conditions listed above, Kanu, in flagrant disobedience to the court order, flouted all conditions of the bail.”

According to the government, Kanu has in furtherance to the offence he was charged, inaugurated a so called Biafra Security Service (BSS), an act it describes as a grave threat to national security and unity of the country.

Justice Binta Nyako had on April 25, admitted Kanu to bail on stringent conditions, but had denied bail to the other defendants standing trial with him.

The matter was adjourned till July 11 for trial but could not go on because the court commenced its annual vacation on July 10 and a new date of October 17 was fixed for commencement of trial.

Honestly, being old has never really helped anyone- RMD writes

Veteran actor, Richard Mofe Damijo shared this cool photo, writing about the perks of being young at heart. He wrote

Being eternally young (at heart) comes with more perks than one. Apart from helping me better understand and relate with my children (biological and nonbiological), it makes the young people around me trust and open up to me more than they would if I came to them like "an old man" which suites me perfectly as the dynamics makes it easier for me to be an influence and make an impact in their lives, no matter how little.
Honestly, being old has never really helped anyone which is why I coined the phrase "Who-Old-Epp?". Yep, I said it, not just because I can but because I have lived long enough to know that age doesn't equate wisdom. I have encountered many "old fools" and I have interacted with many young people who are wise beyond their years.
Young people who are rounded and grounded in character, speech and carriage, those are my favourite type because as old as I am I learn from them which typically excites the teacher in me. This weekend, my dear friend Olusegun Adeniyi has invited me to talk to teenagers at a church event in Abuja and I am tickled in my spirit about these impressionable young men and women who I am about to encounter and positively rub off on in my own little way, so if you're a teenager in Abuja or have teenage friends and relatives please tell them to come through irrespective of religious affiliation, they can register FREE on rccgteapteens.org
Wisdom no know age, sex, religion or social status.

This Is Why I Fight For Women - Popular Enugu Human Rights Lawyer

Emeka Ugwuonye of Due Process Advocate (DPA) has explained his reason for always standing up for women
In a lengthy message the popular Enugu born lawyer revealed that he lost his father and his widowed mother single handedly raised him and his six siblings.
He wrote:

WHY I FIGHT FOR WOMEN: YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS AND BEAR IT IN MIND ALWAYS:

I was raised by a widow. Ebemma is her nickname. I was the first child. Growing up, Ebemma and I were more like an elder sister and younger brother, though she was my mother, because she was only 18 years older than I.

As a widow in Igbo land, Ebemma suffered persecution and harassment just because she was a woman and a widow. I saw it first hand.

But despite all that, Ebemma stayed strong. She stayed focused. She stayed smart. She was able to train her 7 children to university level, making her the first parent in my town whose children are all graduates. Ebemma is also the first parent in my place that has two lawyers, one medical doctor and engineer as her children. She was also the first widow in Enugu State to train her son at Harvard Law School. Yet, she did not go beyond primary school. No other parent achieved this feat in my state, I would assume.

Ebemma never lived in the city until I was already in America. Now, she is an American citizen and she voted for Hilary Clinton. Though she never earned salary in her life, as such, she now earns social security benefits as a senior citizen of America, in the amount of over $1000 per month.
In case you forgot, Ebemma is a woman. So, can you understand how I feel when you try to tell me that women are not as good as men or that they cannot lead a family? Can you understand how I feel when you beat a woman?: In fact, each time you beat a woman, I see you as someone beating a daughter of Ebemma. I feel like "killing" you. The fact that I was too young to help Ebemma when she was persecuted causes me to want to double your punishment if I catch you beating or persecuting a woman.

When I was young, I promised Ebemma that if I grew up, I would protect her from all gender-based persecution. But when I finally grew up, nobody dares persecute Ebemma. They now all call her Mama, even people older than her. Since nobody is persecuting her now, I am searching around town for any man persecuting any woman. I will see Ebemma in such woman and I will come after him. Even if that is the only thing I achieved in this world, I want to make sure that nobody can persecute Ebemma's daughters.

So, now that you understand me, I think we are settled. Don't beat your wife or maltreat a woman just because she is a woman. If you do so, you have to prepare to deal with me. And always know that I will always have the ability to cause you a lot of trouble - whether I am "disbarred" or not. In fact, I will be more deadly if I were to be disbarred, because in that case, I will not come after you with the law. I will come with "guns".

By Emeka Ugwuonye, writing as Emeka, not as Founder of anything.

NOTE:
Because of her level of education, Ebemma does not understand that men and women should be equal. Despite her own experience, she still believes that men are superior. That is the irony. If I were to tell Ebemma that men and women should be equal, Ebemma will quote the Bible to me to suggest that men are superior to women. I would smile and leave her alone. She is Ebemma and for me she is always right, at least until I leave her presence.

NOTE2:
The question is not whether Ebemma is great or whether she is good. Remember that I don't need any proof of that. The question is whether the persecution of women or the claim that women are inferior to men is true. I only used Ebemma as an example of the women. I want us to focus on the women and the injustices meted out against them. The question is whether women could be head of families.

NOTE3:
Ebemma taught me everything. She taught me how to cook. She taught me how to farm. She taught me the most important things I know. She taught me how to show empathy for those who are not so lucky or those in pain. I can cook any food that a Nigerian can cook (plus the ones that an average Nigerian doesn't cook). Because I was the first child, I also learned how to babysit infants because I baby-sat my brothers.

Police arrest man for digging up ex-girlfriend's grave and setting coffin on fire

The police in Russia has arrested a man who opened up the grave of his dead girlfriend and burnt her coffin because he claimed she was stalking him in his dreams.

The man,  30-year-old Yuriy Golovin, allegedly dug up his former lover's body five years after her death.

A macabre picture is believed to show him or his accomplice lying on the teenager's coffin after the grave was opened in Menschikovo village, Kurgan region, 1,075 miles east of Moscow.

Detectives have also arrested a 23-year-old man over the incident and opened a criminal investigation which could lead to five year jail sentences.

The disturbed grave was spotted by Oleg Ivanov, a friend of Olga's who visited the cemetery, according to reports in Russia

He then saw social media pictures showing a man lying on her coffin, possibly sleeping there.

The man who posted the pictures explained that the ex-boyfriend wanted her grave dug to set fire to her remains, he said. 'He told me that he was asked by this girl's boyfriend to dig the grave,' he said.

The boyfriend was 'tormented' by 'constantly seeing Olga in his dreams', according to friends. 'He want to a sorceress and was advised to get her body out of her grave and burn it,' said one account.

In the event there was fire damage to the coffin but it was not fully destroyed.
Olga died in 2012 after committing suicide.

Listen To Wizkid’s Deleted Verse From Drake’s One Dance

One Dance is a massive record on which Drake featured Wizkid and Kyla Reid. The song is one of the commercially successful songs off Drake’s Views album and its success extends to the Billboard Music Awards, where it won multiple awards.

Nigerian music superstar, Wizkid has been duly credited and awarded for writing the rave single but it appears he actually wrote and recorded a verse for the song that somehow failed to make the final cut. The Starboy only had minimal vocal contribution on the publicized version of the One Dance song.

However, a video in which an unshared version of the song with Wizkid’s original verse playing audibly, has surfaced on the internet suggesting that Drake deleted Wizkid’s verse from the One Dance song he put out and that we are familiar with. Watch the video here.
