Patoranking reveals the meaning of his stage name

Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, famously called ‘ Patoranking’ is easily reckoned with as the fastest rising act in the Nigerian music industry at the moment.

Born May 27, 1990, Patoranking prides himself as a reggae-dancehall artiste and he often says he’s the next big thing after Bob Marley. He became a protégé of Timaya and was unofficially with the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa’s Dem Mama Records after collaborating with Timaya on his hit song, ‘Alubarika.’

In February 2014, he signed a record deal with Foston Musik and released ‘Girlie O’, a single that projected him to prominence in no time.

In a recent interview, he explained the meaning of his stage name ‘Patoranking’ saying, ‘Ranking in Jamaica means highly respected, and the short form of my name, Patrick is Pato, so it simply means highly respected Pato which translates to Patoranking.’

Before he rose to stardom, Patoranking used to be a dancer and he plays football very well too.

Kanye West and his wife Kim are said to have started the raunchy sessions as a way to keep the rapper calm, while also ‘spicing up their love life’.

An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: ‘It was after their second yoga session with a private instructor at their home that Kim suggested to Kanye that they strip off to do their homework.

‘They did their yoga poses for about 30 minutes, both completely naked .
‘Not only is it making Kanye calmer and more relaxed, but the yoga is also spicing up their love life.’

It is said the rapper was open to the idea of yoga, particularly because he sees himself as ‘spiritual and a great thinker’.

Nollywood Star, Nkiru Sylvanus Gets New Appointment In Imo state

According to Nigeriafilms, Nollywood beautiful actress Nkiru Sylvanus appears to have gotten a new appointment in Imo state government. This is because, Imo Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has disclosed plans to set up a befitting Film Academy in Owerri.

The governor appointed actress Nkiru Sylvanus as the Ag. Director General of the Academy to do oversight functions of ensuring  judicious use of finance and other logistics.

Okorocha disclosed this to members of the Imo Chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Owerri.

Okorocha equally announced the provision of office accommodation for Imo AGN at the ICAPS premises, Owerri and assured them of the quick commencement of the Film Academy.

Recall that Ms Sylvanus was the Special Assistant on Lagos Matters,appointment which she lost when governor Okorocha dissolved his cabinet last year.

“Where did Olusola come from?” –Lagosians blasts Desmond Elliot’s campaign poster

Few days ago, we announced that Nollywood actor, director and producer, Desmond Elliot, has joined the league of celebrities-cum politicians but it seems some of his fans are not too happy with him as he's currently under fire.

When photos of Desmond  ‘Oluwashola” Eliot’s campaign posters and details of his platform, under APC, the leading political party in Lagos State, found their way to the internet last night, some of his fans began mocking him for the sudden adoption of the name “Oluwashola”.

“Very sad. Like Jonna, who added Ebele to his name in other to full the Igbos, this one has also added Yoruba name to his name, just to get the votes of the ignorant people that will be carried away by his fame and vote”, one Blessing Efam wrote on twitter.

Declaring support for the actor however, a twitter user, Mimi said “I don’t have a problem with him going into politics, but the fact that he never proudly identified as a Yoruba man (used english names, never spoke yoruba or did anything to signify he was yoruba), but all of a sudden, because he’s running for office in yoruba land, whips out his yoruba name, tells a lot about his dodgy intentions. It’s such a cunning and manipulative behavior”.

Another MzEloh on the actor’s Instagram page wrote “and ‘olusola’ comes out. I thought he was from Delta state? Desmond choose one, actor, filmmaker or politician”.

While a certain Azeez Oluwaseun wrote on facebook “Olusola… Laughable! Well, let the best man win. If he has anything tangible to contribute, then he should be given a chance.The new name he added though, is laughable. Is that supposed to garner more votes for him or what? LOL! Are we Yorubas mediocres or are we short of intelligent Yorubas who can vote for office? Why the new name?”

Tobena on twitter also says “This is really funny, though, did he suddenly remember his ancestors are Yoruba, abi where did Olusola surface from,
nawa oh…Olushola ko! Olushola ni! So all of a sudden he remembers he has a Yoruba name eh! Guy, contest if you want but don’t come up with
any name thinking it’s gonna change anything! I’m sure GEJ is your role model cos you’ve started towing his path of adding Ebele to his name to gain favour with the Igbos. Small time you go come dey tell us how you no get shoe and you dey trek the streets of Lagos! Who even knew this dude was Yoruba! He never identified as one and now all in the name of politricks, his name is Olushola…..Oga park well biko!”
