Kanye West is under fire today for claiming that he will soon be a bigger than cultural and civil rights
icon than Nelson Mandela.
In an interview with WGCI radio in Chicago, the rapper said that the death of the 95-year-old South African leader will finally allow people to focus more of their attention on West’s own accomplishments.
The rapper was in the studio to promote his new music video Bound 2, then his conversation turned to the day’s biggest news out of South Africa. West was asked who he thought on the world stage today could possibly replace Nelson Mandela in terms of leadership, and his unconventional answer left heads spinning.
“I am the next Nelson Mandela,” West responded. “I’m only 36 years old, and when I look at everything I’ve accomplished, it’s the only comparison that makes any sense. By the I’m 95, I’m going to be a bigger hero than he ever was.
“Nelson Mandela did a lot of good work, don’t get me wrong. But I think I’m on track to do something even bigger. I liberate minds with my music. That’s more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever.
“Not to say Mandela wasn’t for real. I have mad respect. I just think we need to keep things in perspective here. Anyone can be replaced. And I think I’m well on my way towards being the next great black leader. I’m already worshiped around the world. And there’s more to come.”

The Award winning rapper, has become the first ever Nigerian rap star to model on the runway for a fashion brand.
Ikechukwu headlined the just ended Pulse.ng/ Kinabuti Lux Fashion Show in Lagos on Saturday, Nov 30 and he rocked in a Kinabuti winter/autumn collection among other professional models.

The problem started when Charles Novia , yesterday, released a list of his top five actresses in Nigeria for the year 2013 and on the list, he placed Rita Dominic as number five.
The placement seemed not to go down well with Rita, considering the fact that the actress just won the Best of Nollywood Award as the Best Supporting Actress in English for the movie ‘ Finding Mercy’ , the same film Novia said she did not perform well and had used in rating her, came out firing from all cylinders, putting down the respected producer cum director.

Finally, OJB Jezreel has landed in Nigeria months after undergoing a successful kidney transplant in India.
OJB, who was earlier expected to return on Saturday, 7th December 2013, according to what I just learnt, actually breezed in on Thursday, 5th December 2013.
His return at an earlier date was arranged to make it a surprise for everyone.
Sources say Jezreel is being lodged now in a hotel at an undisclosed, secret location, not far from his Surulere, Lagos residence.
This also was to allow him have enough rest as he recuperates, to avoid him being disturbed by fans who anxiously looked forward to receive him.

President Goodluck Jonathan has declared that Nigerians should mourn the death of the late African hero and pioneer, Nelson Mandela.
According to presidential spokesman, Dr.Reuben Abati President Jonathan has declared three days of national mourning for former South African President, Dr. Nelson Mandela.Flags are to be flown at half-mast across Nigeria during the period.
President Jonathan urges all Nigerians to unite in solidarity with the brotherly people of South Africa as they mourn the Madiba.. President Jonathan describes the late President Mandela as the great liberator, freedom fighter and hero of the black race.
The President also calls for special prayers in mosques and churches in Nigeria during the period of mourning which begins today.A special inter-denominational memorial service for Dr. Mandela will be held at the State House Chapel on Sunday.
Mr Mandela, 95, led South Africa’s transition from white-minority rule in the 1990s, after 27 years in prison.
He had been receiving intense home-based.medical care for a lung infection after three months in hospital.
In a statement on South African national TV, Mr Zuma said Mr Mandela had “departed” and was at peace.

Chris Brown is responsible for more than $3 million dollars in pain and suffering ... according to legal documents filed by Frank Ocean's cousin over that massive brawl outside a recording studio.
The docs were filed by Sha'Keir Duarte ...who claims one of Chris' entourage attacked him during the scuffle between Chris, Frank, and their entourages in West Hollywood last January.
Duarte claims Brown's bodyguard brutalized him ... and in his court docs he itemizes his list of damages complete with price tags:
-$1,000,000 for pain, suffering and
inconvenience -$1,000,000 for emotional distress -$1,000,000 for punitive damages -plus, another $60K for medical expenses.
As we previously reported ... Chris has filed a counter lawsuit against Duarte, accusing him of provoking the fight and attacking him with kicks and punches.
We wonder when all this drama would stop.
