Osinbajo Admits Granting N640 Billion Oil Contracts For NNPC
“In response to media inquiries on NNPC joint venture financing, VP Osinbajo, as Ag President approved recommendations after due diligence,” Mr. Akande said.
This is coming barely a day after the apex oil firm disclosed that the presidential approvals it received for two oil contracts worth N640 billion were granted by the Vice President during his time as Acting President.
On Wednesday, the spokesperson for the NNPC, Ndu Ughamadu, had said that the “Acting President Yemi Osinbajo gave the approval.”
Recall that a critical analysis of the NNPC reply to the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, showed that the NNPC received presidential approvals for at least two contract awards during the time President Muhammadu Buhari was on medical leave in London.
The statement said NNPC received presidential approvals for two oil contracts on July 10 and July 31 worth $1 billion and $780 million, respectively, while Buhari was on medical leave.
When quizzed further, Ughamadu added, “Presidential approval is presidential approval.”
The development is coming on the back of a memo written to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, in which he accused Baru, NNPC GMD, of $26bn contract scam.
Kachikwu had also accused the NNPC boss of insubordination and sidelining him from important decisions.

Nigerian wrestling champion Power Uti arrested over wife’s death
The Police in Lagos have reportedly arrested Nigerian wrestling champion, Power Uti, over the controversial death of his wife, Toyin.
Toyin was said to have died in their Ilupeju, Lagos home on Monday morning with the wrestling champion discovering her body.
However, instead of taking her to the hospital, Power Uti was alleged to have gone to a church in search of spiritual help.
Police Public Relations Officer, Famous Cole, reportedly confirmed that Power Uti was arrested over the incident and detained at the Ilupeju Police station, adding that he would be transferred to the Criminal Investigative Department, Panti in Lagos on Thursday.
Toyin, 38, until her demise, was a mother of four children who are under the ages of nine. The two were married for 10 years.
Her body had been deposited at the Isolo general hospital, while her four children are with the mother. (Punch)

The two suspects paraded by the state commissioner of police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye at the Force headquarters, Osogbo are Yusuf Taofeek, aged 21 and Jimoh Sherif, 20.
Fimihan said the suspects were arrested on 6th October, 2017, upon tip-off by some vigilant residents of Jamodo junction, Ifon-Osun, where their shrine was uncovered by the police.
He said it was revealed to Police Operatives that some cultists /ritualists with code name “ZONE II” (Two) at Jamodo junction, Ifon-Osun, headed by one Sehidu Aliu, also known as ‘Alaga’ who is presently at large, usually assemble at their den.
He said they brandish guns and cutlasses before their victims. It was disclosed that most of the victims were those who patronised them for money rituals.
According to the CP, “the syndicates specialise in duping and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public under the pretence of being herbalist and to make money rituals for them.”
52-Years-Old Doctor Rapes Teenager During Medical Examination
The Police in Ritavi outside Tzaneen have arrested a 52-years-old doctor for raping a 17-year-old girl who was his patient. “It is alleged that on the 2017-10-09 at about 16:00, the 17-year-old girl went to the suspect’s surgery in Nkoankoa Township for consultation. On arrival, she was called into the consultation room and the suspect started examining her. During that process, the suspect raped her.
“The matter was later reported to the Police who reacted swiftly and started with their preliminary investigations until the suspect was later arrested,” related the police service.
Meanwhile, SAPS said its members at the Limpopo Police Special Task Team recorded a major breakthrough when they arrested a 32-years-old man and recovered one firearm.
It is said that the suspect, apart from being positively linked to the murder of a Lieutenant Colonel, has been linked to the attempted murder of the POP Constable and four armed robberies at the four clinics in the Waterval area.
This breakthrough is for the incidents of murder, attempted murder, armed robberies and carjacking that happened at the Vuwani and Waterval Policing areas outside Thohoyandou on 2 days ago.
While the deceased was shot and killed during the incidents, a Constable was shot an injured. Until his death, the Lieutenant Colonel, Phineas Marubibi Mamatsiari (55) from Dzwerani Village was attached to the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit in Thohoyandou. The other Constable is still recuperating in the hospital and, was working with the Thohoyandou Public Order Police.

Jackie Chan’s Daughter Publicly Admits To Being A Lesbian
Etta Ng, the estranged 18 year old daughter of Hollywood star, Jackie Chan, has come out openly to say that she is a lesbian.
She also announced her relationship with her girlfriend, Chinese social media influencer, Andi Autumn, on Instagram.
The 18-year-old made the revelation on her Instagram page in front of a rainbow flag, with the simple caption, “#lgbtqai #lgbt #lesbian#androgynous.” . .
After the announcement, Etta Ng went to her Instagram page to show gratitude for the amount of love and support she has received thus far, despite being mocked by the Hong Kong media.
She wrote:

Ng previously told Express magazine that the actor has “never existed in my life. I will never regard him as a father.”

EFCC Traces N2.1billion To Patience’s Dead Mother’s Account
According to the EFCC, the total amount of money traced to Mrs. Jonathan is now N17bn.
Patience, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, had last week, filed a N2bn fundamental human rights suit against the EFCC, accusing the anti-graft agency of subjecting her to psychological trauma, unnecessary persecution and going as far as freezing her late mother’s accounts.
However, an interim report of the EFCC, made available to The PUNCH, accused Mrs. Jonathan of perpetrating fraud through some of her non-governmental organizations.
The report adds that at least N17bn, including funds from some government agencies, were paid into the accounts of Mrs. Jonathan’s NGOs.
The report states, “Another company owned by Mrs. Jonathan is Magel Resort Ltd. It was incorporated by Mrs. Jonathan’s late mother. But Patience Jonathan became the sole signatory to the account of the company by board resolution upon the demise of her mother.
“Though registered as a resort agency, sources at the EFCC disclosed that the agency was probing the circumstances in which the firm secured over N200m IT contract from the National Information Technology Development Agency.
“The contract was allegedly bankrolled through the National Information Technology Development Fund. Several other persons under investigation for money laundering by the anti-graft agency were discovered to have made payments into the company’s account including an hotelier in Central Area, Abuja, who has been invited for questioning.
“The total sum allegedly laundered through the account of Magel Resort Limited, owned by Mrs. Jonathan and her late mother, is put at N2.114bn.”
The commission alleged that another NGO, owned by Patience, Ariwabai Aruera Reach Out Foundation, had various accounts but the principal account was domiciled at Diamond Bank.
The EFCC said it stumbled on evidence in which several government agencies made payments into the account.
A total inflow of N2.4bn was allegedly recorded in the account between 2009 and 2015.
The commission alleged that some of the NGOs had Patience’s domestic servants as directors.
The report adds, “Investigations equally discovered that Mrs. Jonathan maintains a dollar account with Diamond Bank which received huge financial inflow from her domestic aides.
“Some of the domestic aides that made payments into the accounts are also trustees of her so-called NGO and director in her companies. The balance in the account was $12,831,173.
“Another dollar account of the former First Lady was discovered in Skye Bank. Inflows into the account came from deposits by domestic aides of Mrs. Jonathan. Intelligence reports indicate that most of the purchase of luxury items by the former First Lady through the Platinum card of the account. The total amount in the account is $7.9m.”
The anti-graft agency said a total of N1.8bn was deposited in the account of Flinchley Top Homes Limited, another company linked to Mrs. Jonathan. The money was allegedly deposited by her domestic aides between 2009 and 2015.
The report adds, “Another discovery was the N2.1bn and N1.8bn deposited into the accounts of AM PM Global Network Limited and Pagmat Oil and Gas Limited respectively, between 2009 and 2015. Both companies are linked to the former First Lady.
“Another N1.140bn was also allegedly laundered by Mrs. Jonathan through the account of Lawari Furniture and Baths Limited, whose address is given as 100 Akamfa Road, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
“The bulk of the money was deposited by Bureau de Change operators.”
It was learnt that the BDC operators had been invited by the EFCC for questioning.
It was further alleged that the addresses of most of the companies were discovered to be fictitious as mails sent to them were returned undelivered.
In his reaction, the Chief Press Secretary to the former President’s wife, Belema Meshack-Hart, urged the EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu, to honor the National Assembly’s invitation rather than engage in a media trial.
Meshack-Hart also rubbished allegations that his principal was using her NGOs to perpetrate fraud.
He stated, “I won’t exchange words with them since the matter is in court. The House has invited the EFCC chairman many times but he has refused to honor the invitations. Let him go and tell the National Assembly what he knows.
“However, it is not true that Dame Jonathan used her foundations to launder funds. The foundations helped over 700 people with heart diseases. “

Suspected Ritualists Caught In Akure With Fresh Human Parts, Weapons
The suspects were caught inside a bush housing the cenotaph on a roadside opposite the Adegbemile Cultural Centre and near the A Divisional Police Station in Akure.
A SaharaReporters correspondent learned that the suspects were caught with parts of human bodies inside the white painted cenotaph building.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the suspects were part of a kidnap gang behind some reported cases of missing people in Akure.
One of the witnesses, Abiodun Ojo, told our correspondent that the suspects were also caught with dangerous weapons, including cutlasses.
“We found in their possession cutlasses which they used in carrying out their evil acts and some other dangerous weapons,” he said.
Mr. Ojo, a local vulcanizer, added that the discovery was shocking to those who live and work in the area.
“This is surprising because you cannot imagine that such an evil act could be going on inside this place [cenotaph]. Just imagine, this place is beside the main road and it is where people walk through virtually every day and night,” he said.
The witness said that one the suspects confessed to being involved in the kidnapping of Akure residents.
“One of them already confessed that they were behind the cases of some missing people in Akure. The issue of missing people in the last two months in Akure had become a source of concern,” he said.
The incident was said to have angered some passersby who learned about the case and rushed down with the aim to lynch the two suspects.
SaharaReporters gathered that the two suspects were moved to the palace of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi.
A source at the palace confirmed that that culprits were dragged in a taxi to the palace of the Deji of Akure.
He said the suspects would be handed over to the police for a proper investigation.
“I learned that the kabiyesi [monarch] has also contacted the police to hand over the suspects after a brief interrogation,” he said.
Femi Joseph, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, said he is yet to be properly briefed over the incident, but said he would contact our correspondent after learning more about the matter.

Police recover vehicle used in dumping Tagbo’s body from Davido’s house; Say Davido instructed his men to abandon Tagbo in his car
The vehicle was recovered from singer Davido’s house and arrests have been made, the police said.
Tagbo died on Tuesday – the eve of his birthday at a bar in Lekki, Lagos.
The popular musician, David Adeleke, aka Davido, is currently under fire for allegedly lying to the police that he did not know how his deceased friend, Tagbo, got to the Lagos General Hospital premises.
The acting Police Commissioner in Lagos, Imohimi Edgal, on Wednesday told reporters that Close Circuit Television (CCTV) footages from the hospital proved that Tagbo was brought in dead (BID) by Davido’s escort driver, Tunde Usutu, and two of Davido’s friends, Agbeje Olaoye and Idris Busari, PremiumTimes learnt.
He said the men abandoned the deceased inside his ash Toyota Camry LSD378EL on the instruction of Davido.
According to Mr. Edgal, Davido, his friends and the escort driver were being questioned by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Lion Building.
“To be objective and verify facts, I called for a pre-investigation meeting in my conference room. In attendance were all parties including family, friends of the deceased; those of Davido; Caroline Danjuma; the DPO and investigating officers.”
The meeting confirmed that the deceased on that day met and had drinks with friends at Shisha Bar amongst whom was Davido. The bar tender confirmed the deceased had as much as 40 tots of Tequila and exhibited signs of drunkenness, the commissioner said.
The CCTV footage also confirmed this. Davido had reportedly told the police he had left Shisha Bar for DNA Night Club in Victoria Island without the deceased and was only informed by mutual friends of his death while he was at DNA.
Woman kills daughter’s boyfriend after he got her pregnant and wanted to move out with her
Paw Law, 57, was arrested and taken to DeKalb County Jail after the shocking incident that left 17-year-old Nyatole Eh dead.
The shooting happened on October 8 at an apartment complex on East Ponce de Leon Avenue when she became upset that her daughter was going to move to Wisconsin with Eh, who was her fiancé, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Authorities said the family had a heated argument over the move on Saturday.
‘It appears mom had been planning this and was that adamant that she did not want her leaving with him,’ Clarkston Police Detective Jason Elliot told the AJC.
Police say that the upset mother, who is Burmese, left the home to go purchase a revolver from a nearby pawn shop.
The next day she entered the kitchen during breakfast and shot the 17-year-old several times, police say.
‘It appears they were in the kitchen preparing breakfast. There was no type argument or even altercation. It’s looking like mom just walked up behind the victim and shot him,’ Elliot said.
Her daughter is heartbroken over the loss of Eh and told WSB-TV that he was an ‘innocent guy.’
‘It was surprising I never thought something like this was going to happen,’ Madaya Ve told the television. ‘He’s a very good, innocent guy.’

Okoro was among four robbery suspects arrested and paraded on Wednesday by the Ondo State Police Command.
Other suspects included: Ezenwa Raphael, Chukwudi Oruma and Thomas Onofuapo.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph while parading the suspects at the headquarters of the command in Akure, the state capital, said Okoro and other suspects were among the armed robbers who had been terrorising the state in the recent time.
Specifically, he said Okoro allegedly attacked a girl who was carrying a sum of N500,000 to the bank and as he was trying to forcefully collect the money from the girl, he was arrested by passers-by.
The PPRO added that a pistol and five live carriages were found on Okoro.
