Ogun State Governor's Wife Clamours For Husband's Votes

The wife of the Ogun State Governor,
Olufunso Amosun, has urged the electorate in the state to re-elect his governor based on his performance, Punch reports.

Amosun addressed party members at an empowerment programme organised by a member of the state House of Assembly representing Abeokuta-North, Olayiwola Ojodu, on Saturday.

She argued the electorate will enjoy more dividends of democracy if they cast votes for her husband in the 2015 governorship election.

My next post about Governor Amosun would be a review of what his administration has achieved so far.

Chris Brown’s “Loyal” Single Featuring LilWayne Goes Platinum

I don’t normally post about songs that feature Lil Wayne going Platinum, but while it’s been a quiet weekend I’ll make an exception for Chris Brown ‘s “ Loyal” single.

At the end of July, Breezy tweeted that his collaboration featuring Weezy and Tyga , as well as French Montana and Too $hort on the East Coast and West Coast versions, have sold over 1 million units.

Congratulations to everyone involved with “Loyal “!

Nigerian Prostitute, Patoo Abraham, Leads Protest For Prostitutes’ Rights In Lagos [PHOTO]

Prostitution is no longer a big deal in Nigeria, so we are just going to go straight to the point.

Pictured above is a proud Nigerian
prostitute named Patoo Abraham who led a protest for s*x worker's rights in Lagos recently.

Found the report on Al Jazeera. Read and be amazed.

Patoo Abraham has become famous for fighting for the rights of prostitutes, but what she – and those she is trying to help – do to make a living is illegal and frowned upon by many in the country.

Abraham is not only proud of her
profession but is also campaigning to ensure that prostitution is legalised and that s*x workers are respected in Africa’s most populous country.

The 48-year-old has led a couple of protests in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, demanding the rights of prostitutes in a country where s*x vendors suffer physical harm at the hands of their punters Under the auspices of different organisations, scores of prostitutes marched on the streets of Lagos, chanting provocative slogans.

This boldness is unprecedented, and the protesters carried their signature red umbrellas and T-shirts with the inscription “s*x work is work, we need our rights.” “We are tired of dying in silence,” Abraham, who heads the Nigerian chapter of African s*x Workers Alliance (ASWA), told Al Jazeera.

“We want to be able to practise our profession with pride like every other person. We want an end to name-calling and stigmatisation. We are s*x workers and not asawo [a Yoruba derogatory name for prostitutes].” s*x work, said Abraham, is normal work and that there are “s*x workers everywhere under one form of disguise or the other”. “[The] government should stop criminalising our work,” said the woman who is also the president of the Women of Power Initiative (WOPI), a non-governmental organisation established to advance the cause of s*x work in Nigeria.

Although Nigeria has posted impressive economic growth, overtaking South Africa to become Africa’s largest economy unemployment remains widespread and many Nigerian women have ended up working as prostitutes in part because they cannot find work.

Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said in April that no fewer than 5.3 million youths are jobless, and the World Bank last year put the number of Nigerians living in destitution at 100 million.

Joblessness in Nigeria is something else, so we would blame the government for their choice of job as usual.

Chibok Girls Being Allegedly Used Assuicide Bombers – Report

There have been an increase in female suicide attacks and a source who spoke with Vanguard thinks the female suicide bombers may be captured Chibok girls.

The unnamed source said he believes that the girls may have been exposed to radicalization by their captors.
The source spoke about the possibility that the girls had been indoctrinated by the terrorists in the last three months of their captivity, hypnotized and sent into various parts of Nigeria and beyond with a view to carrying out deadly missions.

The source, who has contacts
with the Boko Haram leadership,
pointed out that it may be difficult to change radical orientation of the girls, who may now see their malevolent disposition as an act of righteousness.

“It may shock you to know that
some of the girls being used for
suicide bombings in parts of the
North are among those taken from Chibok in April this year. It was clear from the outset that the girls would not come out the same, after being kept with their unwanted hosts for a long time”.

The Coordinator of the National
Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, has since said that the Chibok girls are not among the female bombers. But how do they know for sure?

USA To Test President Jonathan’s Aides, Others For Ebola

Ahead of the coming African/American Leaders Summit billed for Monday in Washington DC, United States, President Barack Obama, has said some African participants attending will be screened for exposure to the dreaded Ebola virus.

President Goodluck Jonathan along with his aides is among the African leaders expected to attend the event.

According to a Reuters report, Obama explained on Friday that the action would be taken to protect the US from the outbreak of the disease.

He said, “Folks who are from these countries that have even a marginal risk, or an infinitesimal risk of having been exposed in some fashion, we’re making sure we’re doing screening.”

The United States, Obama said, takes risks from the deadly Ebola virus very seriously hence the planned test for the expected African leaders.

Also, two African leaders have said that they would not attend the meeting because of the outbreak of the Ebola disease in their countries. The leaders are the presidents of Liberia and Sierra Leone, Mrs Ellen Johnson- Sirleaf and Ernest BaiKoroma, respectively.

Nicki Minaj’s new single ‘Anaconda’ leaked three days early before its August 4 release! Instead of letting the early-song drama get her down, Nicki’s dissing her haters and saying they can’t ‘steal her joy.’

The rapper is not only body-confident enough to wear a teeny-tiny pink thong on her single cover, she’s also bold enough to tell her doubters to “sit down.”

Read Nicki’s blunt message below;

“U can’t steal my joy. Your fears are your fears. Your doubts are your doubts. U can’t steal my joy. Sit back and watch God move,” Nicki posted on her Instagram page yesterday, the same day her song leaked.

Ebola: Governor Fashola Wants Borders Closed

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has urged the Federal Government to close its borders with affected West African countries to prevent the outbreak of Ebola
virus in the country.

Speaking at Lagos House, Ikeja, on Friday, Fashola said Ebola was no longer a local problem, but an international one that required urgent measures in place to prevent its spread.

He said, “This is because it is easily
transmittable across the borders and boundaries.

“The Federal Government team has been working with the state’s team. But I think what the Federal Government should do is to consider closing down some of our borders.

“It is difficult to stop this epidemic and we must now choose the treaty obligations that we hold under the ECOWAS treaty and perhaps short term benefits in terms of economic cost to human life. We must make that choice and consider it very seriously. It is a national security issue and I think that we should give it that attention.

“I think that men and women who man our border posts – sea, air and land -especially the customs, now know that they are our first line of defence.

“It is prevention, rather than calling the health professionals to quarantine people, that is really the strongest defence against the virus”.

Dear Fans and Media Reps,
Apology Letter to YSG Entertainment Limited. I hope this meets you all well. It is no secret that the last 12 months have been the most turbulent of my music career.

With regards to the lingering issues about which I have been mute, I, Olanrewaju Ogunmefun popularly known to you as Vector Tha Viper, wish to state the following;

1. YSG Entertainment Ltd without any doubt, gave me the platform to show case my talent to the world.

2.  it’s true we had misunderstandings on issues concerning my engagement with them.

3. There’s an existing Federal High Court injunction preventing me from doing what I love to do and this serves me and my fans no good. However, we have
entered into a settlement to have the injunction lifted.

4. That by reason of irreconcilable differences, my Record Contract Agreement withYSG Entertainment Ltd has been aborted. That being said, in the spirit of good faith and a show of unreserved commitment to settle these issues amicably out of court, I have sought and obtained permission from the label to pay off the discounted recoupable expenses as contained in the Terms of Settlement in this regards.

I would also like to apologize to the management of YSG Entertainment Ltd for any embarrassment occasioned by my conduct and whatever damage it may have suffered as a result of the slander and libel as portrayed by the media in this regard.

These issues were exaggerated by the media as I hold YSG Entertainment Ltd in high esteem. I also appreciate the leniency afforded me by discounting the recoupable expenses for me.

I wish the company well in all
their endeavors.

Thank you.
Signed: Olanrewaju David

Buhari’s wife asks Jonathan To Resign over Boko Haram insurgency

Wife of former Military Head of State, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), Hajiya Asiya Buhari, Thursday condemned the assassination attempt on her husband in Kaduna last week. She therefore, called on President Goodluck Jonathan to resign from office, saying it was high time he did so.

In a terse statement made available to media houses, Asiya Buhari advised the President to follow the example of former South Korean Prime Minister, Jung Hong-won who resigned over his government’s handling of the ferry accident which left more than 300 people dead.

“As he saw grieving families suffering with the pain of losing their loved ones and the sadness and resentment of the public, he took responsibility as prime Minister; he apologised to his country and resigned because of service to humanity,” she said.

“Jonathan should emulate such a leader, because Nigerians have been dying daily, for the four years, hoping that government is going to do something, but we are tired of this insecurity and increased attacks on innocent people.

“Where is Jonathan? What is he doing? If action is not taken now, when? It is not enough to verbally condemn; action is long overdue,” Asiya concluded.

US Set To Evacuate Ebola Victims From Liberia

The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention in the United States, CDC, has announced that two Americans suffering from Ebola disease in Liberia will be evacuated back home in the next few days.

According to a statement released by the deputy spokeswoman of CDC, Marie Harf,  on Friday, 1 August, 2014, the two Ebola victims would be taken to the US to be cared for in strict isolation.

“The safety and security of US citizens is our paramount concern,” deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf said, confirming the State Department was facilitating the medical evacuation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“Every precaution is being taken to move the patients safely and securely, to provide critical care en route on a non-commercial aircraft and to maintain strict isolation upon arrival in the United States.”

They will be “taken to medical facilities with appropriate isolation and treatment capabilities,” Harf added in her statement.

It would be recalled that Samaritan’s Purse, a US charity, has said that two of its staff members, doctor Kent Brantly and another American missionary worker, Nancy Writebol, were stricken with the virus in Liberia.

Both “are in stable but grave
condition,” the group said Thursday in a statement.

However, Harf declined to identify the two patients who would be evacuated due to privacy concerns.

Meanwhile, Emory University Hospital, in southern Georgia, has also said that it is preparing to receive “a patient with Ebola virus infection to its special facility containment unit within the next several days.”

Ebola Fear: Jim Iyke Thanks God For Sparing His Life (Photo)

After running from Liberia over Ebola fear, Nollywood actor Jim Iyke shared another photo of himself, sitting at a table with a variety of food in front of him.

The actor, who is presently in an
undisclosed area, seems to be doing fine. He posted the photo above with the caption,

“Breakfast; somewhere serene. Glad to be away from all the madness. Thank u lord 4 everytime u hide me in ur pavilion #Ikechukwu .”

Yesterday, the actor had posted a photo of himself wearing an expensive mask with a message on his Instagram page saying, he was leaving Liberia earlier than scheduled because of the rising case of Ebola in the country.

Jim’s photo had sparked a lot of outrage on social media, as some Nigerians suggested the actor should be isolated and monitored for a while, soon as he arrives Nigeria, in order for him not to spread the virus, in case he has already been infected.

Council Boss Walked Out By Edo Lawmakers For ‘Improper Dressing’

Members of the Edo State House of
Assembly on Wednesday walked out the Chairman of Ovia South West Local Government Area of the state, Morrison Okhuarobo, for improper dressing.

Morrison was at the lawmakers sitting to render account of his stewardship since he was sworn-in as council chairman.

He wore a face cap and a combat khaki trousers and shirt on which the words: “Proudly Oshio Picki” were inscribed.

The council boss was about to begin his presentation when Hon. Johnson Oghuma drew the attention of his colleagues to Morrison’s dressing.
Oghuma said, “The governor is well
respected across the world. He does not come here dressing in khaki. The governor respects this House and dress properly when coming here. He should go and dress properly.

“This dressing amount to disregard and misconduct. He must tender unreserved apology”.

Other lawmakers concurred and insisted that Morrison should leave the chamber despite pleas by Speaker Uyi Igbe to allow him present the report. The council boss left and returned an hour later dressed in a suit.

He apologized to the lawmakers for his dress code and went ahead to make his presentation.
