“The brief sexual relationship got me pregnant.
When I checked my HIV status during my ante- natal registration, I was confirmed positive.”
Those were the words of Mrs.
Grace Brume, 22-year-old HIV patient, expecting her second baby at the Amassoma General Hospital, Amassoma, Bayelsa State.
PUNCH Metro had enquired from Grace how her husband, Fyneface, was treating her considering her challenge, she said, “I did not tell him that I am HIV positive. No one knows that I am HIV-positive except an aunt. Even my husband does not know. I have hidden my status from him since I tested positive.
“I would have told my husband, but the aunt said I should not. My aunt keeps encouraging me that those who have HIV will not die and that there are drugs they take to keep alive. Interestingly, my husband is negative.”
Grace said each time she and her husband wanted to made love, she usually convinced him (Fyneface) to use condoms.
“My husband used to kick against it each time I gave him condoms to use. I told him I was asthmatic and I did not want to get pregnant often. As a result, he agreed to be using condoms even though he did not like it.
“When we wanted to have the second baby, he did it without condoms. Still, my husband is negative.”
She said her resolve not to tell anybody was because of stigmatization which most HIV patients usually suffer.
Grace said her first child born to the “rascally schoolboy” was HIV-negative. She said Praise-God was in the Kindergarten class in a private school, stressing that when she was tested after 18 months of birth, there was no single trace of HIV in her (Praise-God).
Grace said, “My advice for pregnant women is for them to go to hospital to their HIV status. If they are positive, they should start taking their drugs to avoid the baby being infected.
“The ART drugs are working very well. I almost committed suicide five years ago when I tested positive to HIV. I was told that I was pregnant and had HIV.
It was as if the entire world was crashing on my head. I went to tell my aunt about the development. She advised that I hid the result from everybody so that I would not have psychological problems.”

Two men have been arrested for raping a 16-year-old girl in separate incidents in India.
According to the girl, she was raped by her friend's husband, Santosh, 42, when she went to their house on Monday. She said she was locked inside the house and sexually abused.
She managed to escape from that abuse and from the house, but on her way home, she stopped the car of 25-year-old Jagadish who was passing by and who offered to drop her at home. He then reportedly took her to a remote area and raped her.
The family had filed a missing complaint with Belthangady police on Monday.
When the family members and others were searching for the girl on Tuesday, they found Jagadish returning with her and assaulted him, police said.

Somewhere out there are stolen X-RATED PHOTOS of Nicolas Cage getting down and dirty with the mother of his son Weston ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
According to law enforcement, the intimate pics were stolen by a former handyman, who broke into Christina Fulton's house in April and jacked four computers and a box of wild photos.The handyman, Ricardo Orozco, was arrested last month and charged with felony burglary.
He's pled not guilty and is currently being held on $1 MILLION bail.The photos have yet to be recovered, and we're told police are actively on the hunt.
Due to the tragic passing of the former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof. Festus Iyayi, who died on Tuesday in a car accident on Lokoja-Abuja Expressway, it was decided to postpone the planned NEC meeting.
Yesterday, as Iyayi was returning from the meeting in one of the Northern ASUU chapters, a dire car accident occured, which led to the former ASUU president death.
He was in company with some ASUU leaders and they were said to be returning from Kano where they sought the views of members on ending the four-month-old ASUU strike.
Thus, it was decided to postpone of ASUU's executive meeting, scheduled for Wednesday.
The aim of the meeting is to decide whether to continue or to call off the 4-months strike.

Rev. Teddy Parker, a Macon, Georgia pastor killed himself a few days after telling his congregation at his church that God was not hearing him and no longer felt a
connection to God.
“I try to pray but I don’t feel like God is hearing me,” Parker said to his congregation “I try to serve but I don’t feel like God is using me. And there are times in your life when God purposely withdraws from you, he doesn’t withdraw for the sake of leaving you but he withdraws so you can grow and
mature.”
Rev. Parker, a father of two, shot himself in the head with his own gun following
Sunday service at Bible Mount Zion Baptist Church while his family and congregation were still at his church waiting for him for the next service..
“When he didn’t show up they went
looking for him,” a church member,
Russell Rowland, told the Post. “I’m very surprised because he didn’t preach that.
He preached totally against it. It’s
something that the congregation don’t really understand.”.
I hope this would be a big lesson to other women and ladies reading this.
