His defence was however ignored as he was found him guilty and charged him before a Lagos court for sexual assault based on the victim's age and remanded in jail. The incident happened at Badagry Road in Apapa where the suspect and the victim’s parents reside.
According to P.M Express, the suspect lured the child into his apartment after finding out her parents were out then assaulted her. Further investigations revealed the 62-year old had on multiple occasions pestered the child about sex, offering gifts until he finally raped warned her not to tell her parents.
The teenage victim was said to have obeyed and kept mute for a while before finally summoning courage to tell her parent who had suspected her movements into Baba’s apartment.
Upon being confronted, the suspect admitted he did sleep with her but said she was no virgin as she was already open when he penetrated her. The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was charged before Ogba Magistrates court for assault. He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Davis Abegunde granted Bruno bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 18th of September, 2017.
