In a country replete with sad developments, some good news, no matter how small, feels like a contrasting breath of sweet fresh air. Take this news of Susan Abraham a 2016/17 Batch B corps member serving in Oyo State for instance.
According to reports reaching us, Susan Abraham has renewed an orphanage; the Mercy of God Home, in Ibadan.
It was gathered that the female corps member renovated the buildings and provided 14 mattresses, foodstuff and toiletries for the orphanage home.
According to Susan Abraham, her purpose is to assist in providing the orphanage’s major needs as well as pave way for others who might have the kind heart to do the same.
Susan also celebrated her birthday at the orphanage.
She said:
“In my search for an orphanage, I came across one where the children live with polio, the condition is one of the poorest standard of living one can come across, and their illness are worsening and endangering the lives of their caregivers.
“Only two women using their personal funds to run the home with little support from the society.”
Susan Abraham acknowledged individuals, organisations, and religious bodies that supported the project Punch reports.
She concluded by calling on the government to take over the responsibility of the Mercy of God Home.
Corps members have been known to exhibit acts of charity in the past. In April, a corps member, Okoroha Kingsley Chino serving in Rivers State rewarded the best graduating student of his Place of Primary Assignment with a laptop to encourage him and others to put more efforts in their studies.
