It was learned that the deceased was a member of a gang of robbers, who have been terrorising residents of Ozoro and its environs. A source in the community said Police had gone on the trail of the robbery gang after they attacked and dispossessed a woman of a bag containing an undisclosed sum of money and her mobile phone, on her way from the market.

The source, who preferred anonymity, said the robbers were intercepted by the Police along Ozoro/ Owhelogbo Road, adding that the deceased was killed in the resultant exchange of gun fire, while other members of the gang escaped. Items recovered from the suspects included a red motorcycle, six guns, cartridges and charms.
