How did you get into music?
Houston: Well, music is naturally in me. My dad is a musician, so growing up for me was all about music. I was born into music and it’s been music all the way, so it’s not like there was one period i got into music. I started singing since i was 12years old, it is a long journey.
Abel: You have achieved much in your career, but what challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Houston: Honestly, it is really challenging because you have to be unique in your style of music, so it’s very challenging. I think that’s the only challenge, you have to try to be always new, develop time for your tricks and flows. you understand? just to be unique in your craft.
Abel: If your weren't doing music, what would have you been doing?
Houston: I don’t know, somehow i would still find myself in the entertainment industry (smiling). I don’t know if i would survive without entertainment because like i earlier said, my root was entertainment right from birth, so if I wasn’t singing maybe I would be a show promoter, an actor or something. I would have still being in the entertainment industry.
Abel: How do you relate to the love you getting from Nigerians?
Houston: Well basically, i am not surprised, it was expected. I get love not only from Nigeria; i get love from Kenya, South Africa and many other countries. You know, everyone thinks i am not a Nigerian because of the look and the kind of music i do. Yeah i love the fact that they love what i am doing and i am not ready to disappoint them. I want them to know that very soon i am going to give them something they are expecting from me.
Abel: So tell me Houston, how do you manage your female fans?
Houston: Well, its not easy managing the female fans you know but they are your market so you have to show them love every time, anytime you see them. For me its really challenging honestly but there is nothing i can do but to show them love. I love my female fans a lot and i really appreciate what they are doing.
Abel: Are you single?
Houston: Ofcourse i am single (laughing) but i am not searching.
Abel: What sort of girls do you find attractive?
Houston: Ok, I find girls that fear God very attractive. Girls that are really innovative and girls that goes to the kitchen. Yeah, she must be good looking before i discover these parts.
Abel: How do you describe your style of music and sense of style?
Houston: Huuum, i would describe my style of music. People say I do R&B, Hip Hop but I don’t categorize my music like that, I do good music. Well, i leave my look for my fans to describe it for me. You know i just try to be myself and deliver what i do best.
Abel: Are you working on any new single?
Houston: Yeah i am working on a new single, it would be dropping soon. That’s the next project, so Africa should just wait for the bomb.
Abel: When should we expect it?
Houston: Yeah very soon, like very soon.
Abel: Before you leave, what is your message to your loyal fans worldwide?
Houston: To my loyal fans out there, i just want to tell you that i love you guys, i appreciate you guys for the love you are showing to my brand and the love you are showing to my kind of music. Without your love there is no Houston Grey. If you don’t appreciate what i am doing there is no celebrity like Houston Grey, so you guys should keep the love coming and i would keep giving you good music. I love you all.
